Anybody Going to Brazen Dropouts Bike Swap Meet?

Is anybody going to the Brazen Dropouts Bike Swap Meet in Madison? It's about a 6 hour drive for me but I'm considering it. For those who have attended; what are the chances of running up on older Colnagos/bikes/frame and Italian components?

I’ve been there a few times- scored some cool stuff at good prices.

I don’t know if I need anything right now...

I'm hoping to be there, weather permitting; it's only a two-hour drive for me. There's always some vintage stuff available, but it seems to be getting scarcer over the years. Best to get there early, by noon almost all of the good/interesting stuff will be gone.

You never know what you'll find there. I've never gone looking for a particular bike. The "corral" does always seem to have a wide variety. Some bikes go fast, others sit; I've never really "studied" it.

As for parts, as JohnD said, the earlier you arrive the better. The club has figured that out, and it costs extra $$$ to get in the first hour. Lot of vendors actually pack up by 1:00PM or so.

Missed it last year; it was the same day we adopted this guy. For this year, we'll probably be looking just for parts; gotta make a list of what seat post sizes, etc. we need.

I wouldn't miss it for the world. I got some amazing deals last year, most notable being a Thomson Elite seatpost and MKS custom nuevo pedals for 20 bucks. This year I'm in need of some tubular rims and tires and a Normandy Comp rear hub.

Pretty sure @iab is going.

I am undecided, as it's very hard for me to get there early enough to do anything.

The Chicago guys often show up. I do need to get rid of some stuff, see the family, but leaving here at 4 puts me there at midnight, in Mineral Point. Depends on how this weekend goes.

These things have a way of changing all my intended builds around....

This looks cool. I can't do it this year because of family obligations but I may do it next year.

Madison?...thats like going to Wisconsin. Thats a lot of driving. How's that good for the environment? Besides, I get scared going west of Ridge Rd. And I can only deal with so many people...especially cyclists.

I understand. You're afraid you will like it too much and want to move there.

I reserved a table a month ago, and I have three wristbands coming with it. Since I only need one, selling the other two for $20 cash apiece as soon as I get in (7am).

Here's the swap timeline:

7 am - dealer setup
9 am - early admission ($10)
10 am - general admission ($5)
noon - free

...so the dealer admission gets you two hours of shopping over the early admission, and three hours over the general admission.

First come, first served. PM for details.

Well, since it would be a trip for many of us, I hope someone will post some pics of the meet as well as the treasures that were bought.
Best, Ben

I might be going, if the weather is nice enough for a long drive. After 3 years off the bike, my interest in cycling is starting again.

Which means you're getting the table for $25. Dang, I gotta keep this idea in mind for next year......

Haven't been there in a few years, don't really NEED anything at the moment, but that never stopped me.
One year even won a Brooks B-72 in the Dreambikes raffle.
I have to be up in the Northwoods by 1 PM for a birthday party, so not looking good.

Another way to look at it is that I'm doing a solid here for someone who wants to get in early but doesn't want to pay that same $65 for a table that I did. There is no guarantee that I'll sell the extra wristbands, so I'm out the $65 regardless. If I make some back, great, but I don't count on it.
