Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm pretty sure they're two different networks. The L might be new. I don't remember seeing it before. I suspect it has the fewest provider options. The rest of the benefits looked the same.

Fulcrums for the Ritchey have been delivered, sez FedEx. So I texted Mrs. GJ to ask her to bring them inside. I'm desperately afraid of porch pirates.

Now I have to wait ALL DAY to see them!!

Email scammers are trying harder than ever. I get a bunch of emails every day, ostensibly from vendors like Amazon or such, though there's always something 'different' about the way they type "Amazon", like "Arnazon". Today it was "Home & Depot". You gotta try harder, scammers!

Reminds me of learning about watch fakes, back when I started collecting watches. BITD, when Hamilton released their Electric watches, the very first battery powered watches to reach the market, someone was selling "Harnilton Electra" watches to those who couldn't read the fine print on the dial.

Speaking of scam emails, I got three invoices for Windows Defender and one for Norton yesterday. I subscribe to neither.

I did when I was about 11 or 12. I was riding my 3 speed to Little League practice. My street ended at a 4 lane road and I had to go left for a couple blocks to get to the field. Rather than cross the 4 lane twice, I just rode the "wrong way". This old cop who was notorious saw me and busted a u-turn and skidded to a stop and jumped out of the car and started yelling at me. Wrote me a ticket and scared the crap out of me with his car.

Two warnings from cops, one written, both legit.

Couple years ago 3 of us got ticket for riding our mountain bikes on a trail that was closed after a fire and subsequent rain damage. Yes, there was a sign but the women I was with wanted to chance it and I can't say "no" so off we went. We had to cross a road several miles in and the ranger was there waiting for us. He couldn't verify the license of one of the ladies because she had a hyphen in her name, then he couldn't decide whether to write us or not. He finally called someone who told him to write us. $180 each. We were there for a whole hour and he told us the closure was for our safety. He warned us about the trail and I told him we just rode over it and we knew what it was like. He made us go back a different way and I told him we would be safer going back the way we came.

When we got back to our cars there was another ranger there and I told him they didn't need to ticket us. He said if they let us go then others would want to ride there. BS.

I got a warning ticket for riding on a four-lane divided highway, non-interstate. I told the trooper to be sure and cite the formal violation on the ticket but he gave up and wrote a warning instead.

A dentist on the side? What, do they only work on bicuspids and molars? No cuspids or incisors?

I do note that this one has the usual riser stem, like so many other Litespeeds I've seen. I checked the 1995 Litespeed catalog for the geometry, though, and given the 168mm headtube length I should be cool with a regular stem. I checked my supplies and I have 2 x 110, 1 x 120, and 1x 130mm quill stem, plus 3 Cinelli Nerve handlebars. And two Turbo saddles, since this comes without one.

I'm not going to participate in the ticket discussion but don't take that the wrong way. I'm not in the mood to make waves. Have a wonderful day.

I ran a light where I couldn't trigger the video camera and would have had to dismount to get to the ped button. Unfortunately, I did it right in front of a cop. The written warning was for improper passing (about 15 stopped vehicles) in a right-turn only lane.
