Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That wasn't one of the unreliability points, just a funny anecdote of searching all over for a minor rattle.

Actually, it says a lot about VW that an annoying rattle from a poor build doesn't even make the top three issues in 3.5 years.

Another schweddy ride done. It was cool at the start, but humid, and I figured the ride would end early enough so I did not bother with my Halo headband. Mistake. Had stinging eyes for the last hour of the ride.

don't drink water and you'll have less or no sweat. Might be dangerous however.

Chilly day in central Illinois. 60-65º for a high. Going to opt for a relaxin Sunday stroll on our CoMotion this afternoon if we ever get goping. Laziness prevails...

Other than routine maintenance, 0 issues with my 16 Passat that has almost 100k.

It has an annoying rattle from day 1 that I solved with paper, but other than that is fine.

It's only supposed to hit 92 or 93 today so I could probably do a midday ride without dying. Maybe I'll do a sunset ride, they're often nicer.

Just dropped by my Toyota dealer this past week to discuss the lease on my 4Runner nearing it's end. I was stunned when I drove up as the supply chain problem was readily apparent; picture empty shelves during the pandemic in the paper goods aisle. They may have to extend my current lease until something I like comes in, and I'm not even asking for much. The problem is the chips, they're just not available in the numbers needed for normal demand.

Got in a chilly, windy ride with one of my guys and a semi-regular. With that, I'm over 700 TSS for the week for the first time this year. Yay, fatness!

Rode by our first house this morning. When our daughter was born, we planted a red oak to commemorate her birth. This is it 26 years later. Was about 8' tall when we planted it.

Car lots around here are virtually empty. I looked at the local Acura dealer’s website a few weeks ago, and they had 5 cars. All low level sedans.

The GX is in the best supply of Lexuses. Of course, they advertise the crap out of the new LX600, which I really want but have no way to justify. It's odd, since they make very few even in normal times.

Do you have a buyout on the lease with a fixed cost? That might be the best course of action.

Right now buying at lease end can be a very good idea if the value exceeds the residual. And, most seem to be if the car has been well cared for.

My phone got "banh mi" right again yesterday. It gets it about 70% of the time, not bad at all.
