A guy dropped off his bike for service, in preparation for a 500 mile tour. Tune-up, new tires, new brake pads. But, new bar tape is where he drew the line. It was falling off the bars.

It would be nice to have flat riding options from time to time, but I'm used to it.
That's what I've got. Sadly no bike crap lasts forever.

This morning I met up with 24-hour rider and we journeyed into GSMNP.
The first 15 miles was easy pedaling beside the river and across the fruited plain.
Once inside the park there was a seven mile climb (5 of it easy) to Cades Cove, with its 11-mile loop. The loop is closed to cars until 10 a.m. It was our goal to get there before that. We arrived at 10:10 a.m. Oops.
The first bit was annoying, but once we worked through a line of cars it wasn't too bad.
We didn't not see any bears, or deer, or much of any wildlife.
Perfect day for riding.
We stopped at the restrooms. I stopped Strava, and forgot to restart it when we left. Bad.
Otherwise it was an epic ride.
The End.

Wow, recognize the spot well. Its on some of my regular longer rides. I haven't stretched my legs that far yet this year, but now I'll have motivation. From there north to Dousman is good riding and to the East which is closer to me some good areas too.

Well, we didn't even break 100° F on Monday, so naturally my thoughts drift towards baklava shopping...

I find myself in the land of road construction. It's a summertime ritual in these parts. I even witnessed a sidewalk closure yesterday. All of a sudden roundabouts are the thing. Everywhere. Haven't been bike riding for three weeks, so maybe that's why I'm feeling crusty. Maybe not.

I've ridden Cades Cove twice, once on a trike and once on a low racer. Both hit 50+ mph on the way back down to Townsend.
Anyway, beautiful ride.
