Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Running an *******s license plate is the best offense/defense there is. They may not all be seen to run, but the ones that are certainly go into a database. There is really nothing more unsettling than seeing the cyclist you harassed doing figure-8's on his bike in front of your house the next morning.

I didn’t get a wave back this morning, and gained 5 watts instantly.

My serious cycling goes back to 2005.

No data, relying on memory, which is problematic, but while there may have been some uptick in cycling on the MUPs and designated cycling routes here, it sure doesn't feel like there's much more cycling out on the real roads than there was a decade ago.

What happens when someone is added to the database?

The first thing to know about the database, is that you never talk about the database.

I hesitate to attribute any recent trends in any particular place to the political and cultural polarization of the country, but that's possible too.

Sounds like Bike Club. First rule of Bike Club is you don’t talk about Bike Club.

The idea is to show a pattern of behavior, especially if the moron in question is involved in an incident where someone gets hurt.

Databases like mine may be used to keep track of said offenders, and if there isn't a plate number available at the time the egregious act, it may yield results later. So I've heard.

Went for a short ride on the CX bike. It was a mix of road, grass, wood chips, and gravel. I pumped the tires up to 60 which was probably ok for the road but possibly too high for the grass and trails. I was on a local park gravel trail when a walker pointed to a “No Bicycles” sign. I put my tail between my legs and left. Sigh.

Wow. We had some nice weather today, if a bit windy, so I got out for a good, long-ish ride. For the first time since it was made opt-in, I checked my FlyBys.

Now I know what Velo Vol feels like - three. THREE FlyBys in 80 miles. I guess they done kilt that feature.
