Has Anybody Had Dealings With Bobby From Dixie Flyer?

When I order the frame, he assured me a two week ETA. That was May 17. I am aware that everything is moving slow everywhere. My big concern is the inability to give any information on ETA. I ask and his replay is soon or something similar. Is he just a fly by the seat of your pants kind of guy, or should I be worried?

My experience with DF is - you'll get what you order - eventually.

*I bought the Hellyer bars and went through a similar situation as you are describing, lots of delays and eventually just no reply to my emails (I was not bombarding fwiw) Eventually I did get the bars, and they are fine, but the experience overall definitely turned me off as a repeat customer.

I'm pretty sure that he has the stuff made in China, and right now everything from China is super slow. I ordered something from Amazon -- it showed about 2 weeks in estimated delivery time but it ended up taking 3 months. But, yeah, my drop bars from dixie flyer were several months late -- even precovid.

My bars were more or less on time and he replied to all my mails. I also changed my order and asked a couple of questions. Shipping was from China to Germany.

I am rounding the corner on 3 months. It would less irritating if he was more up front about the time table and the shipping issues. One of his friends told me he waits until he has a large shipment to save on freight costs. It would have been nice if he was upfront about that. Him being somewhat local, I see a lot of his frames, so I know it will probably ship eventually.

I dropped the frame off at the bike shop to get the headset and bb installed.

Here is picture of the frame before it was sent from the factory.

Damn dude! Look at that Bar drop! Are you Ondrej Sosenka's twin brother or something?

BTW, bike looks pretty sweet.

It is the angle of the photo. The bottom of the bars are about the same level as the top tube.
