I do (mostly) two types of riding. The first is my daily commuting on a 1989 Fisher MTB. I don't have an odometer and have no idea of mileage. It's not that much but the streets here are pretty rough, so I'd probably count my commuting more in hours than miles.
The second is rural excursions with my vintage racing and sport bikes. I have a 25km/15mi route that takes a little over an hour, which I ride very often. I also do different, longer routes but less often. Keeping a ride log prompts me to get out more often, lest I be embarrassed at the end of the month. For me the number of rides is more significant than the mileage.
Jan: 10 rides, 250 km
Feb: 23 rides, 750 km
Mar: 17 rides, 435 km
Apr: 22 rides, 670 km
May: 23 rides, 550 km
Jun: 25 rides, 625 km
Year: 117 rides, 3280 km

I'm right around 700 miles for July, most of which came in one 232-mile ride with @rhm. I somehow don't expect to match that in the subsequent months!

I don't keep a record; no offence to those that do. Too many things in life are measured, counted. If I count anything, its how many occasions I am able to get out and ride; Riding is my freedom, my escape not something to tally up, measure, analyze.

For many of us, measurements keep us motivated, so they're fun. To each, his own.

In July, one century around eastern Long Island with @greg3rd48; the NJ Arrow ride with @nlerner; and the usual every day commuting. Some weekends, instead of going riding, I went boating in a tiny little sailboat with my wife, and raking for clams, generally taking it easy. It was fun.

705 miles in July and 27,719 feet climbing, YTD is 2178 miles and climbing is 80,360 feet. That's just what I record with the garmin, most of my in-town commuting goes unrecorded but it's probably only another 100 miles since everything is so close-by in my neighbourhood. I keep my logs metric so the climbing doesn't seem like so much but the distance numbers are bigger.
