Perhaps a clear plastic, horse-drawn tent can follow you along your entire ride, and with one of those racetrack-drying vehicles driving ahead?

Grant once showed how to mount fenders using zip-ties as I recall. Just mentioning this/him to make for a quicker 2000 posts.
This man has a long weekend ahead of him. I don't think he should be up all night fabricating zip-ties.

I am still waiting for the stand pictures after AMCO tries his hand at working with Lexan. I use an 80t carbide tip blade for cutting it. But he can also use drill bits and sanding discs to form it to shape. Smiles, Inspector Honk, CrapMaster Honk, and Scrooge McDuck

Surprise #1:

This has been a long time coming, but the time has come. A lot of you have been wondering about this, and even made a note that I've been sort of avoiding shots of the drivetrain. That has been for good reason. I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

I think you'll like this. I sure do

Thanks to the incredible work of Drillium Dude, we can finally show the whole bike, and showcase the best part. Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the reborn Huffy Le Grandepagnolo!

Surprise #2

A few day ago, I alluded to this surprise in this post, but I wonder if anyone caught it.

I didn't think it was going to happen, as it was a really long shot, but through the efforts of many others, this became a reality...

Wow! it turned out great. The drillium kicks it up even one more notch.

it took me a sec to notice the “gas pipe” made it onto the stand. Phenomenal touch.

Surprise #3

So I've got the bike, but what happens if I get hungry or need to repair something? Where am I going to store that stuff??

Thanks to pastorbobnlnh , now I won't have to worry about that. Thank you sir for your incredible generosity!

And that, folks, is the whole enchilada!

I have lots more to say, but I need to get ready for tomorrow. The overriding emotion right now is gratitude - this insane project became a reality due to so many of you. I'm so thankful for you. I'm going to try to do update all throughout the day tomorrow, so if you are bored and want to follow in my footsteps and waste your life away, follow along!

I mean... been doing that already here, I'm not giving up tonight!

Weird thing to say about a Huffy but... that's a beautiful bike. You sir are a worker of magic.

Beautifully done!!! I saved a bunch of pictures, and thought to myself, "I am intentionally saving images of a Huffy." I've only done that once before, and that was with my mom's Huffy Eagle Ridge from like 30 years ago.

Really glad this thing rides so well. That well and truly seals the deal. Super happy for you, and thankful to the rest of the BF guys that helped out!

Hoo Boy! I knew that you would find a way to connect the Huffente to its roots. Turned out better than any vision I had seeing as mine is getting fuzzier by the day.

Huffito . . . finito! Bravo! Viva AMCO!

Well done, amigo. Damn well done.

In honor of your success: my short-ish and eclectic summary of your "once-in-a-lifetime" efforts based on something more-or-less “period correct” (e.g., from the early 1980s) for the Le Grande. The basis for what follows was somewhat eclectic too, so I guess eclectic is apropos.

With appropriate apologies to David Byrne and Talking Heads.

Upgrading Le Grande

And you may find yourself in yet another nearby town
And you may find yourself purchasing a gas-pipe bike
And you may see yourself right alongside of some fine Italian steel
And you may find yourself in a garage workshop, with Campagnolo parts
And you may ask yourself, "Damn - how did I get here?"

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande pulls me down
Watching the days flip by, budget sinking towards the ground
Close to the red again, money is almost gone
Upgrading Le Grande, Will not let it keep me down

And you may ask yourself, "How can I do this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Why not use tubular wheels?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful bike"
And you may tell yourself, "I’d be better off with a trike!"

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande jerks me ‘round
Watching the days flip by, calendar always counting down
Clearance issues again, none of the parts will fit
Upgrading Le Grande, Will not let it keep me down

Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was

Tubes I am grinding and parts I’m making
Tubular tires – online at Home Depot!
Brackets are cracking, brackets I’m brazing
Removing paint from Le Grande’s bottom bracket
Paint is dissolving and paint I’m redoing

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande pulls me down
Watching the days flip by, budget sinking towards the ground
Close to the red again, money is almost gone
Upgrading Le Grande, Will not let it keep me down

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande jerks me ‘round
Watching the days flip by, calendar always counting down
Shimming another part, all of the sizes odd
Upgrading Le Grande, Will not let it keep me down

You may ask yourself, "Is this thing really a bike?"
You may ask yourself, "Where can I find a seatpost?"
And you may ask yourself, "Is this right? Is this wrong?"
And you may say to yourself, "My God! What have I done!?"

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande pulls me down
Watching the days flip by, clock is ever counting down
Fixing the frame again, into the silent midnight
Working fingers to bone, sleep is nowhere to be found

Watching the days slip by, while the Le Grande jerks me ‘round
Watching the days flip by, budget sank below the ground
During the last three months, here has my time all gone
Upgrading Le Grande, Will not let it keep me down

Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was - so that’s where my shim was!
Time isn't standing still, time isn't helping us
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
I couldn’t get no rest, Huffy it ever was
Close the big day comes, here comes the big day

Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Watching the days flip by
Huffy it ever was, Huffy it ever was
Watching the days slip by
Upgrading Le Grande
Le Grande did not keep me down
No more days to slip by
Le Grand did not keep me down

Now to the ride we go!

Postscript: Stand turned out great, too. The gas pipe on the stand is a nice touch. Very "fitting".

Two other thoughts re: the concourse display, if time permits.

1. Take a small mirror and put it below the BB on the stand. That will showcase the BB cutout, which turned out very nice.
2. Weigh the bike without the bag and put a note/sign on the stand (or the bike) giving the "ready to ride" weight. The reactions to people when they realize they're looking at a sub-24lb Huffy should be priceless.

Have a great time at the ride and afterwards!

Fantastic Hondo! Now all we need is cudak888 to record a video of himself playing and singing this on his piano!

And I think the Talking Heads would very much approve!

AdventureManCO MAGNIFICISICO! Cudos to DrilliumDude, RootBoy (may Scott rest in peace), and all the other active C&V collaborators on this project!

P.S. I wish the red leather I had on hand had been a better match to the red Dave used on LeGrandepagnolo.
