Hello from Toronto

Hi all! Wanted to introduce myself and open up a little bit about my love for cycling. And I also need some posts to be able to post pics 😜.

I'm living in Toronto, but I was born and raised in Indonesia. I rode my bike when I was little (elementary school years) around my neighborhood in South Jakarta, but basically stopped after high-school. Like most kids I enjoyed my time on my bike, riding with friends, I still cherish those simpler times.

Fast forward almost 20 years later, I'm now in a completely different country. I rediscovered cycling in early 2021 like a lot of people when the pandemic was still new to us.

My girlfriend and I bought two used, very heavy, crappy bikes in pretty bad condition (a Huffy Stone Mountain for me, and a Roadmaster for her) and rode it maybe 5 times before upgrading.

Fast forward a couple of months we both got Fujis. I had a Fuji Jari 2.5 with MicroShift groupset (and Tektro mechanical disc brakes), and my girlfriend got a hybrid Fuji Absolute 1.9 with Altus groupset and also Tektro mechanical disc brakes.

This is when we started to really love riding in Toronto. We kept to the shared paths for safety. And we rode a lot. I put in just under 2,000 kms on my Jari, and my girlfriend wasn't far behind. My longest ride to date was on the Jari, 103 km ride from downtown Toronto to Burlington.

I've since sold the Jari and bought a Cervelo R-series with 105 groupset from a close friend of mine. And I'm loving the sport even more!

Before all of this, I was a moderate smoker for the better part of 12 years. Cycling is the only thing that ever got me to quit. I am now 3 months, 1 week smoke-free. The power of the bicycle is a real thing!
