Roadbike to Gravel Bike

Hello everyone, Im new here and also a newbie cyclist. I have a road bike frame and I saw an article that says you can convert roadbikes to gravel.
Now heres my question, the maximum tires that I can use on my roadbike frame is 28c only (with 700c frame). If I change it to 650b, would it accommodate larger tires such as 40c? is that viable?
thanks

Hi,
it depends of how much clearance you have on the the frame. Have you check how much you currently have with 28-622?
If your frame is OK for 33-622 (cyclocross tyres), you might be able to fit 38mm but 38-584 tyres or 27.5x1.5 but these are not very common - I can see 2 tyres for these on chainreaction.

If your bike can take 33-622, you will be better with a cyclocross knobly-ish tyre like schwalbe X-One all around or speed or Vittoria Terreno or panaracer gravel king SK (32-622).

If you don't go with 650x48 your bike will be lower to the ground

Disc brakes ?

Otherwise, not going to work with side pulls or V's.
