Well I'm at it again. Been keeping an eye out for years for the right Peugeot reminiscent of the one I rode in Germany back in the 80s. Finally got this freshly powdercoated and sort of restored one locally (well 3 hours round trip) for a great price.
As I brought it home.
Wheels and brakes were a bit of a mess.
Where I've got it now with new brakes and brake levers, Brooks saddle, new bar tape, tubular wheelset, etc.
Next step is to replace the functioning but unaspiring RD/FD and shifters with some nice Suntour Superbe pieces.

Great looking Tourmalet! Thanks for bringing back some memories. That was my first road bike back around 1988. I had the green one, brother had the white like yours. We thought we sounded so cool saying "Peugeot" at the time lol. I was probably 15, did my first century on it and my first USCF race on it. Man, I need to dig up some old pics of that thing, I'm 51 now, not racing anymore but still riding. Newbie here as of today but just wanted to give your some props on the bike.

BBE? Opinions May Differ...
Here are three of my Best Bikes Ever:
Specialized Sequoia 650b conversion.
Pashley Path Racer
Raleigh-Carlton Super Course 5-speed IGH
The Super Course actually has the pedigree to back it up.
For Quality of Construction and Presentation:
And for Performance:
Your Raleigh appears to be perfect for your riding environment. So, the white bike is your Windsor, then? Also very nice. But I am really enjoying your photography! Please, keep it up.

1970s Fuji Finest
I rode my early 70s Fuji Finest on a 20 mile ride today. This is a very comfy long-distance machine with 700 x 32c tires (Soma Shikoro) and generous gearing (48/38/28 rings and a 13-28 7 speed freewheel). The only parts original to the bike are the headset and seatpost. The parts are a mix of Japanese goodies: Suntour new winner freewheel, Suntour bar con shifters and cyclone derailleurs, SR Apex 86 bcd triple, first gen dura ace sidepulls, Nitto bar and stem, MKS pedals, and Shimano 600 hubs laced to Araya 20A rims. The saddle is a Selle Anatomica leather saddle because a bike this old deserves a leather saddle; the bag is an Acorn because waxed cotton just seems right on this bike as well, .

I went as light as I reasonably could. Mine was 13.5 lbs but lots of light stuff - seat post, CF bars, light saddle, etc. really rides nice. Enjoy it and post a picture when you can

Firm but gentle
I picked up the 2005 Lightspeed from Craigslist for a very nice price. I was not really sure if I would like it, I bought it just for the "like new" Dura Ace 7800 triple components. I am now quite smitten with it. I know the paired spoke Bontrager wheels are not the best, but they really fly on the big, open, windy expanses I ride.
The new Pescadero is my all road bike and light touring bike in one package. The Light Bicycle AR 36 carbon rims are fantastic, built with pristine Dura Ace 7700 hubs and CX Ray spokes. The Schwalbe G-One 700 x 40 (tubeless) tires are as big as I'm comfortable with, only about 6 - 7 mm clearance at the chainstays. The tires exude durability. They're not fast but I can't imagine ever getting a flat.

Man, I am picking up too many nice old rides lately.
Picked up this 1985 Bianchi Trofeo to "steal" the Suntour parts off of or to ride. Pretty crusty with dull paint, crumbling hoods, etx. Minus the saddle this is how I got it.
As I cleaned it up and went over it I found a quite decent bike. Was even able to polish the frame to pretty much restore the paint. Took if for a test ride and fell in love with it immediately for how it felt under me on the road. So now I'm fixing it all up. Here it is now with only a couple of really small things to sort out. Wonderful rider now and everything works perfectly mechanically.
Then last week I found and brought home this cool old Japanese ride. A 1983 Kuwahara Count. This is how I brought it home.
I'm still working this one over but the day after I got it I took it out for a quite enjoyable 30 mile test ride. One of my funniest rides of the year as the bike was a joy to ride, an instant hit.
This is it out on the test ride.
It's running black bottle cages now.

1982 Trek 720
It's been raining lately so I've started riding my 1982 Trek 720. It's a bit of a boat since it is an old school touring bike but it handles nicely and I really like the parts mix on it. I rode one of these across the country in '97 and couldn't resist buying this when it showed up on the local CL. I replaced all the parts with stuff I liked better. The dia compe bar end shifters mesh nicely with the suntour derailleurs. The gearing is on the low side (46/36/24 rings) but that's OK for touring. One of these days, I plan on converting this bike to 650b so I can run 38c tires on it; currently running 32c tires that run a bit narrow (closer to 30c).

It's been years since I've visited bikeforums, and I've realized I'm old enough to qualify for this subforum which I always used to ignore. Bit of a shocker. I've really enjoyed this thread though. There's such variety here. I've just finished cleaning and tuning all the bikes, so it's a perfect time for pictures...
This is my trekking bike. A Surly Cross Check. This is my own build. I call it “Big Blue.”
My town cruiser. A Trek Earl with several parts swapped out, and fenders and a basket added. I call this my “Scraper Bike” due to its Oakland roots. That’s where I purchased and rode it originally. It also has quite a few scrapes from crowded bike racks and such.
My wife’s trekking bike. A Bianchi Volpe. She tried the drops and brifters, but she didn’t like them. I replaced them with upright bars and bar-end shifters, and now she loves it. I call this one the “Foxy Boxer,” since volpe is Italian for fox, and I think it looks pretty yet tough.
Wife’s town cruiser. A 70s Centurion with some updated parts like aluminum wheels and crankset. I call this one “Francine” because of its mixte frame design.

You must love this bike.
It's full of my high school days parts.
Hmmm, it reminds me of first few years of cycling.
And scent of the first favorite bike shop, it's a mix of kerosene heater, oil of bike parts, and coffee.
I used and liked Sun Tour Cyclone rear mech.
It's a very beautiful rear mech.
Thank you for the beautiful pic!
