In my years of fire and rescue I saw a lot more people messed up by alcohol than anything else. Never saw a domestic violence situation where the violent person was a reefer head.
I actually never saw a vehicle collision where the only substance used was cannabis, and we had a lot of weed where I was. I better stop before I get flagged for being political...

Speaking of intoxicants, shrooms are legal in Denver. I am tempted to give them a try, after moving, and see if they can help me.

Same. Stopped cold in the fall of '83 and it was cycling that was the catalyst. Trying to ride centuries in 95 degree heat after a night of heavy drinking doesn't work and I decided I'd rather ride a bike than ruin my liver. The rest of my siblings haven't been so lucky. I've mentioned before that my sister (her birthday is today) died of cirrhosis of the liver at 48.

I think my wife stopped back in 2015. Took me a couple more years to figure out, what I thought it was doing for me was the complete opposite. Found cycling and the rest is history.
So a former champ just called me the most committed cyclist he knows.

2:00: Wish me luck, gang. I'm about to re-cable the Canyon. I'm hoping/assuming that the whole thing is in cable liners since they're internally routed through the downtube and seatstay.
2:10: Yeah, I think it's about time.
2:30: Hmmm. The cable feeds right in, all the way from the STI. Seems like it does have an internal liner! That's handy. But why can't I get it out the end of the seatstay?
2:45: Okay! Rear cable done and dusted, cut off excess, installed cable crimp! Now for the front...
2:55: Hmm. Seems like pulling the old cable through at the STI end pulled the liner back into the frame. No worries! I'll just pull it back. It'll be....Oops. That's all of it out. Huh. And it's NOT long enough to go all the way to where the housing enters the frame....
3:00: Oh, THAT'S what this hatch under the BB is for! I'll just pop it off... See, there's the liner for the rear cable! Wait. The rear cable isn't in it. Oh, crap. This is how that guy with the Cannondale sawed through his crank spindle, isn't it?
3:20: Okay, I pulled off the crimp, undid the pinch bolt, and pulled the cable back through. Now I've fed the cable through the liner and the fitting. Can I get the liner and the cable back through the chainstay?
3:25: Okay, both cables are run through the liners and the fixture, and out their respective holes. Do I still have enough rear cable to set up the derailleur?
3:30: BARELY!!!!! But it's set up, it's adjusted, it's shifting fine. Now for the front.
3:45: FINALLY!!! Three tries and I finally have the rubber grommet on the frame in place, the cable in place, pinched down, the tension properly adjusted. Time to snip off the extra and crimp it down! And to put a crimp on the rear, where there's barely enough excess cable to put reach to put a crimp on!
So, NO, the Canyon Endurace does NOT have a full internal liner for each cable. They go into cable stops on the downtube, then run naked till they get to the liner and the fixture under the BB that keeps the cable off the spindle, then they run to wherever they exit the bike. Might have been nice to know that before I started.

There is a lot of research on psychedelics for depression. Probably too early to make a firm recommendation on who is/is not a good candidate.

So 8 pm last night, I’m finally suited up to ride. I knew traffic was going to be bad, and I kept hearing sirens ( accidents) so I loaded the emonda up and drove over to the “reservoir”. The reservoir is a 9 mile loop, first couple of miles are residential, then you enter the reservoir area which is no man’s land, and then you come to a road about 4 miles long with a bike lane. Massive horse farms are on either side of you. I figured with the full moon visibility would be good, and traffic in that area would be minimal. The plan was to do 5 laps.
In this area, there really isn’t a good place to park, except for a church, which happens to be right at. the top of car was hill. I get all the way to the top of car wash hill and I see blue lights flashing every where. Someone is in handcuffs, and the church parking lot is filled with cop cars. A tow truck was loading the car to take away.
I took this as a sign, more drunk drivers to follow, and I went home to ride in the neighborhood. Riding to almost midnight is tough.

Summer evenings are the best time to ride/be outside in the entire year.

I don’t know how you do it. I can’t/won’t ride outside that late ever, let alone this time of year. I’ve had to get miles in just to keep with tri training and hopping on a bike after the spawn goes to bed at 7 is miserable. And I can’t concentrate on Jeopardy when I’m on the bike, so it’s a double suckfest.
Well, I usually ride at 430-5 am so the light conditions are about the same, and the temperature is about the same. I have the garmin varia camera plus the bontrager flare light. You can see me 3 miles away.
