Ah, the mighty Hog. Truly the finest or the undergrounds, except for maybe "The New Adventures of Jesus".

If this car lot was in Canoga Park, CA, we have a small connection.

Strop was a legendary character on the Paul Hogan show back in the seventies played by John Cornell. He typified the not-too-bright but mostly harmless surfy boy (complete with rainbow propeller cap) who always (mistakenly) looked up to Hoges for guidance. In real life he was far from it as he got the girl from the show (the curvaceously delicious Delvene Delaney) and went on to make a fortune producing the three Crocodile Dundee movies.

My current name is an abbreviated version of my first and last names.
My former name, kevinsubaru, was a carryover from Subaru message boards that I no longer frequent.

well, I'm kinda embarassed to admit it, but -holiday is what the name Doc_Holliday morphed into after 15 years of using it for user-names on the internet. As in Doc Holliday, but specifically as in the Val Kilmer portrayal in the movie Tombstone. Dry sense of humor and all, he was a cool cat in that movie. The 76 is the year I was born.

Username is a double-bastardization. My name is Joe...in grad school, friends called be "jobu", in reference to the voodoo god a Caribbean baseball player worshiped in his locker in the movie 'Major League"....it evolved to "joblue"...my avatar is my shop's logo "718 Cyclery"...my logo is a derivation off of a phone touch-pad.

When I was in high school and college I was an avid reader of National Lampoon magazine. Zippy the Pinhead was one of the many cartoon strips they ran in the magazine back in the 1980's. While Zippy wasn't quite my favorite, I do appreciate the quality of the non-sequiturs that Zippy spouts.

I never had paid much notice to the Avatars and had it not been for this thread, I would never have added one of my own. My newly posted avatar shows my Great grandmother and her brother on their bikes in 1896 (the cycling bug started early in my forbears as there was mention of a bike being included in a family inheritance in the late 1870's.) My user name is French for "Citizen of the world". I have lived all over the world and like they say in the Talking Heads song: "have three passports" so I suppose it is appropriate.
Here is a larger version of the photo:Paula & Jan v.Leeuwen 1896..jpg It was taken in front of the family home in the Netherlands.
This second photo is of my great great grandmother (the mother of the riders seen in the photo above) in 1920 when she was ridden around town when she was in her late 80's or early 90's. over-oud-oma v. Leeuwen & Annemie 1920..jpg

Sykerocker? My nickname is Syke, I've been known by that for at least the last 15 years (started with my re-enactment business), and in the Richmond motorcycle and bicycle communities nobody knows my legal/Christian name. At the Honda dealership where I work, my legal name (George Paczolt, incidentally) only appears on paychecks and W-2's. The only people who still call me George are those who friendship goes well before the mid-80's.
Rocker? Rocker's and mods. Swinging London, 1964. I've been a complete geek on the rocker movement since my high school days (64-68) when I followed the Bank Holiday battles in Brighton, etc. in Time and Newsweek magazine. In 1979 I finally got to Brighton for the World Science Fiction convention, and spent a week's evenings picking up the pub bills for a bunch of old Rockers who got to retell the stories that their families got sick of hearing long ago. I know both sides figured they'd found one hell of a sucker in the other that week. There's a '69 Triumph Bonneville in the garage, well-studded leather and Davida helmet in the closet. It comes out rather often.
My avatar (current, and it'll be here for awhile) is what I look like as of last summer (haven't changed any) when I'm not on a bicycle. Not flying colors in clubs anymore after a bit of bother two years ago this fall, but I still ride with and am rather loyal to the Outlaws M/C.

username: "Quijibo" definition: A North American Male overweight balding ape that's about to lose his temper. (word Bart made up on the simpsons during a scrabble game). 187 is the police code for homicide. Quijibo187 was my user name in a video game called Tanarus (multi player tank simulator) from the mid-late 90s. been using it ever since. Don't really like the 187 bit, but I throw it on there when Quijibo is already taken. (I had registered for Bikeforums in the past, but forgot about it, and just created another profile).

Some folks have figured out that "Sixty Fiver" isn't my age (although I often feel like it is) but the year I was born but it goes a little deeper than this as there used to be a little club of two that was called the "Sixty Fivers" that was made up of myself and my close friend and for a time, co worker.
She was a wonderful human being and I have never met anyone with so much courage and strength who was always willing to give everything she had to help other people even when she was in a great deal of pain.
She did most of these things quietly and without any accolade and it was only at her funeral that I met people who had been touched by her generosity and compassion.
Most people did not know that she suffered from deep bouts of depression and we had a rule that we would talk every day, if only for a few minutes, and if I could not reach her that I could come and kick down her door.
She passed away 4 years ago from complications that resulted from a car accident where she had broken her leg... she had almost recovered from this and was almost ready to come back to work but an undetected blood clot in her leg broke loose and caused a fatal heart attack.
So now there is just one of us left... membership in the club was more about the sharing of common experiences and the trust that only the closest of friends have between each other.
And that avatar is my alter ego... I usually go about my daily business dressed as Superman.
