brown leather cycling gloves?
hey all, i'm in need of gloves, and seeing as i'm very much in a vintage frame of mind, i'd really like to find something nice and old fashioned instead of the usual array of jazzy colour splashes that most modern cycle clothing has.
The rapha criterium look to be good, but they no longer do them in brown which is my preferred option, and in fact they don't even have them available any more.
The grand tour gloves are nice but only come in white which screams 'i just paid way too much for these gloves because they look cool'... however, i am willing to pay way too much for some gloves if they look cool, i'd just prefer if they did it in a brown leather!
any suggestions? google turned up pretty much nothing, there's a pair of XL rapha criterium in brown on ebay UK but i think i'd be a medium so no option there. anyone know of a secret source?
alternatives? any help greatly appreciated!

I found some NOS vintage gloves on Ebay last fall, supplier seemed to be pretty well stocked in all sizes, tan, not brown, but the real McCoy from the '70's, let me know if interested and I'll dig up more info.
I also noticed in the local sporting goods store, there are many half-finger gloves similar to cycling gloves for weight lifting, golfing etc. in different styles.

Hi Geoff - could you dig up that supplier information for me, if it's not too late? I've been looking for such gloves for a long time and there doesn't seem to be any action of the sort on ebay right now.

Boy, last knitted cotton back gloves I had was in the very early 80's! didn't think they even sell any of them anymore since the synthetics took over. One thing I couldn't figure out with them is they wear out quicker that I would think they should and the knitted back starts unravelling and breaking up........I don't remember, but maybe it's because I might have gotten cheap ones back then......

Trek was selling some a couple of years ago. I have 2 pairs, I used a Sharpie to black out the Trek logo. It looks like they no longer make them in any color other than black.

I bought a pair of Airius gloves for $10 at my LBS, They last about a year of heavy use. Most shops should have the knoted gloves with leather palms.

I just bought some gloves from these guys. They haven't arrived yet, so I can't comment on quality but they do a brown, leather, fingerless glove. And you can save on shipping when you buy a leather g-string too

These look nice, but expensive. I don't have experience with them.

BTW, the shoes they offer are totally vintage and beautiful as well...

I wish I could find a NOS or used pair of large Cannondale gloves. They were dark brown with the smooth side of the leather on the inside making easy to take on and off. Crocheted back, very comfortable. Bought them from my local Fuji shop in 1981.
