Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My mom would tell me her knee was hurting due to the weather, but then she started doing it on days where it was clear, so that seemed quite suspicious.

I have a broken ankle, a separated collar bone, complete with torn ligaments, and a re-attached finger and feel no pain with impending storms.

There is a storm impending right now, though it will likely slide to the South

We haven’t been that way for several years now since we sold our timeshare in Crossville. Probably won’t return to that area any time soon.

I think that 10 speed compatable would work ok, not completely sure about Shimano, but Sram works both directions. I used 11 speed cranksets on 10 speed set up with no problems.

it's the only one that bothers me. I've broken 12 ribs, boxers break on my right hand and right collar bone, and left foot.

Had a pretty good opener today with the gang. 50 miler but we bailed to the rail trail with 20 to go due to some really bad headwinds, had to be near 30 mph. We were down to 17 mph at one point. Was fun. I didn't get dropped. And I led one of the fast sections. Ended up with 48 ish miles. Rode the newly converted 09 Tarmac 11 speed, I like it!

Contacts and new sunglasses worked awesome. Great ride today. Pushed it pretty hard and was able to breakaway twice, I also got dropped twice after the above mentioned breakaways. Dropping off was more due to unable to anticipate the end of the line, miss counting and not getting reattached.

Some super strong riders in this group, I hope to ride with them more and more.

I did 77 miles today with 5200 feet of gain. Lots of old farm roads and a lot of traffic on some of them. We had some headwinds but not terrible. The lowlight (besides the traffic) was the 1000 foot climb in 3 miles near the end. This is where the headwinds did their dirty work. Oh, we went up an 18% climb with a 23% descent on the other side. I don't like the descent.

I think I'd probably set my brake pads on fire, going down a 23% descent. The disc would look like those Carbon Ceramic discs on supercars that glow orange at every corner.

It's the same hill that I posted the pic from the ATOC. It has some sharp turns and rough pavement. Near the bottom it's not nearly as steep but it ends with a "T" intersection. A friend crashed on it a few years ago. I was worried about the wheels getting hot so I stopped at a wide spot. It was not easy to stop and unclip.
