Highways for tandem cycling in North Carolina

Hello All:

My wife and I purchased a tandem a little while back and and we are interested in taking it out on some daily and maybe weekend excursions. I’m looking for some suggestions of good highways for tandem cycling in eastern North Carolina. Responses are appreciated.

It doesn't appear you are getting reasonable responses which is strange as this is traditionally a pretty friendly and helpful group.. I am not familiar with NC, however, you might want to broaden the scope of your question and ask about cycle friendly roads and routes. Unless I am mis-interpreting your original question, there really isn't inherently different in riding a tandem on the road vs. riding a single. You might also cross post in the touring forum and maybe road cycling (though someone may call you out for posting in different forums, don't get discouraged.

If, on the other hand, you are looking to ride on real highways, you might want to state why are looking to do so.

Good luck (and stay off the busy highways :-))

I appreciate your post and your suggestion on broadening the scope of my question. I’m not as experienced riding a tandem and I was posting the question to see if anyone knew of safe and scenic roads for tandem cycling. Because of my inexperience on a tandem, roadways that are flat or have smaller ups and downs would be beneficial. Thanks again!
