You ride with poseurs. Legs do the talking, not the bike.

No, there are a few segments where I am up there on the cat 6 rankings but honestly there are some really fast cat 6 warriors out here. I have yet to beat my nemesis Tripple Lights who takes the evening commute extremely seriously

So really this is just about your bias confirmation then. EVs are only unusually quiet at walking pace, hence the strange futuristic noises they now emit in car parks. Once they are moving at traffic speed, they make about the same amount of noise as any other modern car. It's mostly tyre noise you hear when a car is approaching from behind (unless it's something like a Ferrari).

Those boat flares tend to keep everyone on there toes. Hard to get any long rides in before they fizzle out.

They're just fine with the no shirt, the misadjusted brakes and whatever other issues your bike has, but they quibble over a legitimate piece of safety equipment? Are you riding with the Bizarro Racers?

I try not to ride bikes that aren't in good shape in the groups, but yeah stuff like mirrors and lights are indicative of a slow rider. The no shirt thing is weird but doesn't scream slow rider

If mirrors aren't your circle's thing, then get a rear proximity sensor that tells you to get out of the way when a car approaches.

Or install a rear camera with a camera app for your phone.

Your group will be so impressed by how techy you are.

The first quote above is the one I "blasted" you for, you were responding to a guy who said he already has a mirror. You weren't just offering advice, you were being completely condescending. There's no way you could seriously believe he meant he had the mirror in a drawer somewhere.

And since that thread was about responses to rolling coal, bringing up EVs in that thread (which you did) was ridiculous in the first place.

Y'know what screams slow rider? Slow riding. Y'know what doesn't scream slow rider? Pretty much everything else. Seriously, if you want to use safety equipment, are you really going to leave it off because you won't get to sit next to the cool kids at lunch? Put the stuff on your bike and ride fast and disprove people's preconceptions. If you can't ride fast, put the stuff on your bike because it will be truth in advertising.

Ive never seen someone with bright lights and mirrors who is fast, like not even once. My standard for "fast" is high though

I have two tailights, a front light, and bell. Two mirrors

I pass the Cat 1 boys all the time on flat roads. They **** their kit when I dink my bell and chat them casually as they drool over their stems. Watching them in one of my two mirrors jump in vain as I smoothly ride them off the wheel of my recumbent. I usually string them out for 4-5 minutes before going hard.

You want something to keep up with the faster group and you see this as the way to do
it?

Get something normal.

Do you check their racing licenses before or after ringing your bell?
