Jack Benny's buttons read:

The stoker, who is Jinx Falkenburg, wears an INDIAN GUIDE ribbon.

The photo shoot took place in spring 1941. Benny had gone down to Palm Springs to work on the script for his upcoming film, Charley's Aunt. I've seen a handful of different photographs from this session, including one with Benny on the tricycle.

Rita Hayworth had staying power. Still hot in the late 50s, in Pal Joey, for instance.

Pretty sure that all Jacques Tati movies used bikes in a prominent role. As another actor and important image. One of the greatest directors. Only made 4 features and each ranks in all time best movie lists. Batted a thousand. Not bad. Each film is special, similar, yet distinct.

Not so much a celebrity on a bike as a celebrity with a bike as prop. This is from the December issue of Vogue, featuring Harry Stiles's controversial photo shoot. Looks like an interesting Raleigh with Tourist stem/bar combo with only the front brake lever and no rods, on what appears to be a chromed Sports frame; with thimble fork and without the bolted-on seatstays of the Tourist. Nice shiny disc covers on the wheels.

If you wear lace-up socks like Harry does you might just be cool enough for this bicycle.

By the way, this was the only thing to read in the doctor's office this morning.

He looks terrified, which is understandable given how short that wheelbase is with that backwards fork. Might as well be riding a track bike!

...this photo op reminds me of the one with Vice President Dan Quayle where he visits a National Guard facility and is caught holding a weapon backwards...
