Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I did not take any of the drugs they sent home with me, after my hernia surgery.

I didn't realize percs were opioids. That explains their widespread use in my ute. I think I tried one once, though downs weren't my thing.

Almost time for a ride. We also are experiencing winter weather. I can return from a short ride not dripping in sweat. And can thus delay the shower until later in the day.

Not sure. Made the call of shame, initially I thought the rim was bent but the tire was catching the frame where the tire was pancaked. I think the rim is good.

I had to leave for work so I didn’t get to mess with it anymore, That metal wire is stuck in the tire, is that enough to make the tire no good anymore? I was thinking I would move that tire to the front and put the front tire to the rear. I really don’t want to throw the gators on.

I’m sorry, I’m old and don’t always keep up, but what are you being treated for? Wishing you speedy recovery, regardless.

I'm sure the tire is fine. Just pull the wire out, you can clip it short if you think that pulling it back through is going to damage the tire more, and pop in a new tube. I'd leave the tire on the rear, though.

My latest hernia surgery was this past July. I don’t recall needing much meds either. But the shoulder surgery in August was a different story. But I got off the Percs ASAP, not a fan of he narcs.

cool. I would be bummed if the tire was already shot.

Todays ride was tough, I think the cold really affected me but I noticed when I got on centerville it seemed like I was working a lot harder and not going anywhere. I wonder if I picked up that hitchhiker earlier on the ride and had a slow leak.

You do realize you’re not safe expressing that thought out loud, right? Somehow, they know.

I was on the cap trail this morning and the small section I was on passes some entrances to neighborhoods. The trail has stop signs for people on the trail at each of these entrances and typically I slow down make sure it’s good, and then roll happily through. Today, I approached and I saw a car but he was still approaching and was about 150 feet away. Anyways I did a quick calculation saw that I had time and kept going. He was not happy about my desicion. Started honking angrily and then called me a bunch of names.

I guess I was suppose to come to a complete stop. Unclip, and stand and wait for him to pull up, block the bike path and then make his turn.

This really ticked me off, but I’ve been angry lately and don’t know why.
