Impulsive Peugeot PC40(?) purchase
The local co-op had a warehouse sale today, and it looked pretty picked over by the time I arrived, but this handsome fellow was there for $5. I think it’s a 1950’s Peugeot PC40, based on a complete one I saw on the following website: https://www.pedalpedlar.co.uk/produc...tage-town-bike
I’m not sure I have it in me to take on this project, but for $5, and in my size, I couldn’t just leave it there, could I?

I am not even a Peugeot guy, but that looks like a fun project!

Inevitable but someone has to say "fork bent?" If so no issues with paint right now. It already has posts. I see a cool bike, either as rebuild or something newish.
What is that port on the top of the downtube??

Oh, that’s cool. I had a similar one though perhaps a bit later. It was designed for 650b wheels.

"Oil Port?"
That is actually a fork lock. The lid flips up and reveals the lock cylinder.

PC 40 project
I recently restored a 1957 PL-50. The difference between the two frames appears to be the brakes. My bike takes cantilevers. This frame has the braze-ons for French Jeay style brakes. I have attached a photo. It will use the same derailleurs as my bike. It would be useful to know what size wheels this bicycle will take. I'm guessing it might be 650b?I think the frame is the same size as mine. I enjoyed restoring mine. These aren't lightweight frames. My PL-50 came in at 29 pounds, but I think it could be a fun restoration project. When restored it would be a cool townie/city bike. I hope it finds a good home!

I am the guy who donated that to Street Level (or whatever they call themselves besides "My Favorite Co-op") so,,,,if you want a few of the parts I stripped off (partial brakes, a Simplex RD and single shift lever, the BB with cottered spindle and incomplete HS) hit me up. I was going to try to flog them on eBay for Big $$$ but since you are a C&Ver I should be stand-up and give you first shot at them. I did not take any pix, yet and will be awhile 'cause of my jam-packed schedule. I think it may be a 1952 but am no expert, just guessing.

It's a very cool frame, but I know, deep down, that there's no way I'm going to tackle it.

Seriously cool frame. I like the arrow on the seatstay caps and the Aztec lugs. But what is the tab on the DS chainstay for, and are those derailleur hanger mounting holes? Why are there 2?

If you zoom into Andy Antipas's photo above, you can see the specific type of Simplex rear derailleur that would be used on this bike. I believe one could also use something with a claw hanger (maybe yes, maybe no), but this is the tinkering that I would do if I were keeping the frame.
