You may be sorry you brought this up, many here are not fans of this.

So no Molteni but do have this 10th Anniversary tribute that I traded FF for FF from Millfield Velo.

Mine was way too small and this is my size with brand spanking new excellent paint done with very good taste IMO.

Here's a Molteni they did and have.

https://www.millfieldvelo.com.au/superlight/

With Rotor crank.

With DA crank.

And no, still not done after many moons, still trying to suss it all out.

The one I badly want is the JDM-only Miyata-made Eddy Merckx line, including racing, touring and bike polo (!) bikes, (back when he was licensing out the brand, which is why Falcon made Molteni bikes) with Eddy Merckx panniers that I would pay like $10,000 for

Who slammed the seatpost? earlier images of the bike on display at the metro stop had the saddle in about the correct position.
Note the ruddy grey pedal bodies, magnesium.

Are those a graduated series of holes underneath the chainstays?

Rebour did not pick that up in his illustrations way back.

I wrote to the EM company asking about the current state and refit of the bike.
Sent images too, the auto reply stated I would get an email reply next week.
I have a hunch the EM company was not involved in this work.
The Windsor stickers are not faithful reproductions either.
the images of the bikes at the attempt may have had the pink and yello tour and giro bands removed but the Windsor may have been applied over the Eddy herald.

I think these are holes in the chainstays, yes. I didnīt even notice them when I took the pictures. The situation was a bit embarrassing with the subway passengers etc.

The paint is a bit too shiny and flawless to be original, I think.

Not sure what to think of that fork crown.

The wheels had 32 spokes, front radial, rear triple-crossed.

Thank you for the images. Definitely think a repaint at some point. At least the down tube font appears correct.
The Record attempt bike did have 32 spoke wheels and radial front.
The rear hub was a road formfactor, in Magnesium with lockring threading. The narrow flange spacing - lower aero.
Note the schrader valve adapter on the front presta valve stem. Tires have been exchanged, they were flat for a time.
Who knows on the fork crown drilling on the back side.
The back-up bike that Ernesto has is decorated with the Colnago clubs engraved on the top surfaces.
On that bike also is a flat section seat stay bridge, cannot tell on this one.

But that slammed seatpost...

My hunch is the Merckx bicycle company was not consulted.

Well, I thought we would have more to look at here, even after my feeble derail attempt.

Here's another likely not? original but kinda cool with nice paint despite terrible component hurl, stem, bars, SP and tires.

I've got a black mountain cycles road with the homage paint and graphics but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for.

Bring it on, anything in the spirit is good.

You're in good company here, a couple of stalwarts here have them so great minds....

Alright, I'm game. The bike isn't exactly like this any more (I've got a 90s chorus seat post on it now and moved the retro cranks to my roberts and replaced them with silver potenza cranks) but I'm moving soon so I have this one in storage right now so can't take a fresh pic. The bike sees mostly dirt (sorry, "gravel") with the occasional bit of pavement.

I picked up this early 70's Falcon Merckx from the original owner in '92.
Swapped out most of the original components with better ones over the years, but it is at best a three mains 531 frame so I never felt I had to go too far.
I painted the lugs to show them off in a world that was full of aluminum frames.

Freewheel Change out

For those who might be horrified by the Shimano freewheel on my Molteni replica, I have since changed it out to a Regina!

Balance was returned to the FORCE!

Cheers,

Andy
