Funny you should mention that. I just returned from the Atelier (showed him a pic of the International), where he graciously (lubricated with sufficient cream ale) performed surgery on the fixed cup of the BB of my Peugeot PX10. Things started out gently enough, and then escalated as the cup proved to be quite stubborn:

Note the appropriate attire for working on a frame with Nervex lugs. @gugie

It's a really solid bike. Haven't taken it apart yet, but looked it over really well, and took it for a spin and hammered on it pretty good, and found no flaws. Nothing but warm fuzzies so far.

And isn't that a great feeling? May it remain thus.

Indeed. The first order of business will be to get a decent 700c wheelset around the Campy Record high flange hubs. Probably go with tubulars. Those damn Cheng Shins really ruin the whole aesthetic of the bike.

You might want to ride the bike for a while to see if you like the size.

Oh yeah, some pics:

Carlton hoods in excellent condition; definitely need new bar tape!

Head badge is in great shape

Hmm, shifter placement needs help. Sitting slightly on top of the stop.

Patent 74 Nuovo Record RD

Carlton sticker on seat tube very well preserved

I think he got the shirt from Velo-Retro.com, but the only lug maker they have t-shirts for is Nervex (four different styles). Lots of other good ones, though.

$725 is a steel for this bike. It's worth a lot more than that. I love this forum however I believe many are very cheap here lol. I think the value is closer to 1,000.

Looking at the "Sold" listings for early '70s Raleigh Internationals on ebay, it seems that the free market would agree with you.
