Perhaps you could use chainsaw chain on a single speed bike? It likely would last you a lifetime since it looks so robust. On a second look, it would work only with a very custom drive train since it would engage only every second tooth. Bad idea.

I finally took the time to sharpen my chainsaw chains. It really does make a significant difference. I suppose if you figured out how to do this, at least the folks that advocate using bar oil as a chain lube would finally be taken a little bit more seriously.

Stihl is rihl.

Think of the respect I'd get on my recumbent trike with the chainring sticking out at the very front!

I don't think that it would offer any significant life advantages.

You mean that many would not outlive this chain life span?

And you thought a chain binding up in the spokes was an issue- wait until one of these snaps and whips around your leg at speed.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think you'd have crosschaining issues if it were used with a multi speed setup. The der cage would have to be extra long too imo. Where would you cut the weight from to make up for that chain? Wood like to see it used with a recumbent.

the chain saw cyclist's chains sales might be a massacre in Texas.

Gotta find a skip tooth chainring and make a sharkfin cutout between the teeth, and you'll be stuck with only even tooth rings and cogs. Def going to want a chainguard and perhaps some chaps.
