Plastic caps as alternate to water bottle cage bolts.
I'm not sure the subject line fully explains what I'm looking for so let me try and explain a little better.
My Trek FX originally came with little black plastic caps that covered the bolt holes where you would attach a rear rack. I'm looking for a replacement or alternate for these caps. Another use would be to use them instead of using the the standard water bottle cage bolts when no cage is attached. They don't have to screw in, just press-in.

What about hot glue or some sort of sealant you could get back off? Just don't use an acid-cure RTV (eg smells like vinegar). I have a piece of just plain masking tape over the end of some tubing for insect exclusion that's lasted a year.
Better US hardware stores would have M5 (or whatever) screws in stainless but to get nylon in metric rather than inch you'd probably have to go online.

Try searching for m5 nylon hex socket screws on eBay and ample are listed for cheap.

Better yet, try finding these filler thingies!!! Specialized to plug the holes where a kickstand attaches. I dislodged one with my shoe. And they are not threaded - merely holes in the chainstay. After some back and forth and pictures, Specialized actually found the part and sent me some extras.

No. The curbless shower, powder, toilet room is adjoining and has gray tile. It is only three years old to accommodate me as I age in place and also joints seize in place. The first floor did not have a real bathroom, merely a toilet installed at the top of the stairway landing to the basement - seriously. The previous owners created a sunroom with glass ceiling and that tile floor. The glass ceiling (no, not an office personnel reference) is gone and now there's a real bathroom on the first floor.

What is the issue of using a stainless 5 mm cap head bolt? It takes about 30 Seconds to screw in or to remove it. My local hardware store has them.

Or, you might knead a piece of wax until it is nicely flexible, and then force it into the hole. After it is smoothed off, it could sit there until you decided to put a real bolt in.
Cheap, and light weight.

If I were to choose plastic for such purpose, it'd be associated to cost & for preventing future thread & material potential issues. Other's might just be after saving weight.
