Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Show Your Colored Wheels

I need photos. I'm going back and forth on the most important aspect of a new wheel build - color.

The alloy rims are black, but I have choices:

1) silver or black spokes.

2) silver, black, or red nipples.

3) Black or red hub.

The build is Stan's 340 rim, CX-Ray spokes, and Alchemy hub.

Oh, the fun of it all!!!!

The bike is a Ti frame. Everything is black, Ti, and silver. SRAM Red gruppo.

I was crestfallen when the red nipples didn't align perfectly with the red accents on the seatstays. Velocity Fusions, CX-Ray spokes, Dura Ace 7900 hubs--my first DIY build.

Wheels are inanimate objects. Racism and PC language aren't applicable.

I would not do red nipples only. If you go with any red, get the nipples and hubs both. I don't feel like posting pics, but my Cannondale has red nipples and otherwise all-black wheels. Not that awesome.

I would consider silver spokes if your frame is silver or a very light color. Otherwise, I think all black wheels or black rim & spokes, and red nipples & hubs.

Here are some pics.
Alpha 340

I personally like the look of silver spokes with black rims. Red nipples also look nice.

Here are my current and very changeable thoughts:

1) silver spokes, red nipples, black hub, black skewer
2) All black
3) Red hubs and nipples, the rest black

Here's a closeup sample of my bike. It's a custom Ti bike - Vail Cycle Works - now out of business. I now have SRAM Red components.

after looking at your bike I would do:
#1 red hub/skewers/nipples and black spokes/rims
#2 red hub/skewers/nipples black rims and silver spokes
#3 black hub/skewers/nipples/rims and silver spokes
