mulleting of 26 incher to 27.5 as i could use a better longer shock...80 mm now old pilot RS...need new front wheel but curious if more travel bigger tire will ruin the bike.

Ruin it how? It will change the geometry, which may or may not be better for the kind of riding you do.

If you do this it's definitely going to effect how your bike handles. It was designed around an 80mm fork w/ a 26" wheel. What you want to do is a huge change, I was say a negative change. I went from 33mm tires on my cross bike to 40mm tires. That change alone messed up the steering.

Longer fork = longer atc, plus larger diameter wheel and tire? Horrible, horrible idea.

Longer fork will slacken the headtube and increase the leverage on the frame. If you ride hard you may snap the headtube off, it used to happen quite a bit.

You would need to be using a fork like 10cm longer, weight 275lb and be doing jumps to snap a head tube.

op, don't do it. Your bike is designed for 26 and 80mm. You won't be happy with the changes you are proposing. Save yourself the trouble.

Bikes: Too many. Giant Trance X 29, Surly Midnight Special get the most time.

26" 100mm is relatively commonplace, and would probably be just fine. https://hayesbicycle.com/products/ma...32139633393709 is a pretty nice one. +20mm of travel will probably not be too much on your headtube and won't weird out your handling too much.

Increasing travel AND wheel size is probably a bad idea.
