Dec 1967 Schwinn Typhoon
Looking into the value of an old bike found in the back of our garage.
- how much would a non-original seat potentially decrease the value? Thinking the more cushioned, white seat was added later.
- anything special about this year or model that I should know for the value?

Since it was manufactured so late in '67, it was probably sold as next year's model. As you can see in this '68 catalog page, the Typhoon was the base model middleweight, so it's relatively common and lacks the tanks, racks, etc that cruiser collectors value.
I'd say value depends on the bike's cosmetic appeal. Hopefully the paint's in good shape. If it's in the Coppertone color, I'd encourage you to wash it well and take photos for the ad when the sun's out. My guess at value would be $100-$200.

I just turned down $300 for my 'well used' but well maintained 1972 Typhoon. Someone saw it sitting in the driveway while I was cleaning the garage. They stopped and tried to buy it and two other bikes I had outside in the driveway.
I've had it since new so its not for sale for any price but the guy came right out and offered $300 as his first offer. Mine is green.
I bought a pretty clean 1963 Fleet for $100 at a yardsale, it had flat original tires and an inch of dust on it. It cleaned up nicely, even the tires pumped up and held air. Its another bike I'll die with I suppose. The guy was asking $150, I pulled out a crisp new $100 bill and asked if that would buy it, and he took it.

I think the cool typhoon's were the ones with painted rims. Double pinstripes even...

As a kid, I had one of those early Typhoons . It was red with white pinstripes and painted wheels.
That was my bike from 3rd to 8th grade. I never thought it was anything special. I even abandoned
it to build my own "stingray'' for awhile. If I still had it and someone offered $300 for it I would have
taken the money and handed over the bike and I would never miss it.
