Older Purple Bianchi-Need help with Identifying
I bought this bike about 20 years ago and have simply stopped riding it. Was about to sell for $50 this weekend at a yard sale and got wondering if there's more value to it than that.
60cm frame, I believe the components are newer than the frame itself. the rear dropouts say "suntour pro" but the dereilleurs and cranks/chainwheel are shimano 600, brakes are 105.
Limited number decals suggest it's a japanese-manufactured frame (Ishiwata 022 is clear). Already searched for a database to decipher the serial numbers. Top tube says "professional".
Any help from the gallery would be greatly appreciated.

Found what I was looking for in terms of identification...now to figure out value!
It seems I have a 1982 Professional in Amethyst that has had its' components updated to Shimano SIS.

I want to say that's about what I paid for it when i got it. It's a great ride, it just does not get any use.

Looks good. I wonder if this was the best Japanese Bianchi frame of the time. I don't hate the newer parts, index shifting and stronger brakes. I suggest raising seat and lowering handlebar stem for photos. If I was shopping I would coNsider it at $325.

Nice bike. you should definitely be able to get more than $50 for it. Might get a better price if you're willing to wait until the spring when people are more likely to get out and ride.

@nortonlax - Update your profile to add a location. (click on your name - click on public profile - click on the pencil beside location).
Adding a location always helps with a valuation. If you live 80 miles from a major town, unless there is someone who is local that wants it, with too high a value and your bike will sit a lot longer. If you live in or near a major city (especially a bike friendly city) the price goes up and it should still sell fast.

I really like the look of the bike it's nice to see a Bianchi with good paint that isn't Blue or White. As for value I agree that $300-350 is reasonable hope this on finds a good should make a great rider for a larger rider.

Thats the problem with garage sales. Garage sales are all about getting rid of stuff. For that, they can be very convenient! In one morning, you can clear out a garage worth of stuff! But if you want market value or anything near it? Avoid selling at garage sales! I've gotten a variety of bikes at garage sales over the years. Not a common find, but when you find them, they are typically a deal! $25 to $50 is a common garage sale price range. Don't do it. Figure garage sale pricing is from 10% to 20% of fair market value at best.
As a buyer, if you are going to try the garage sale circuit to find bikes, you really need to be looking for other stuff as well, or you will give up. I've bought some strange stuff that had value over the years at garage sales. Bikes tend to be the surprise bonus.

The Purple Bianchi rides again. I’ve made a few changes. New saddle, seatpost, tires, stem, and bartape. Fits like a glove. Thanks again Chris.
