Looking for 165 crank arms...
... for my '92 Rockhopper. The 175s it came with are just too long; I'm only 5' 4". I do love my mountain gearing, 22-32-44, but it's hard to find that in 165. I don't even know where to look. Where does one find these kinds of parts, aside from eBay?
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
ETA: Never mind, hubby found a good quality 160 mm. crank set.
Just have to learn to live with black arms and rings on my Pretty Purple Princess Penelope.

Glad you have it sorted I was gonna say I have a nice Sakae SX triple with 165 mm arms if you were interested, but since you now have everything in hand all is well ...

Well now, let's not be hasty (as Treebeard would say); is it by chance silver? It is my mission to keep as much black off the bike as I can, and black arms and ring really grinds my gears.

Yes its silver and in decent shape, I pulled it from a Novara Corsa womens frame I purchased recently for the drive train. I can take a couple of pics in a little bit and post them if you would like.

Sorry forgot to add pics...
Its dirty from being on the aforementioned bike , but its in good shape and the teeth look ok , it has a 26t sugino bail out ring , and is a half step triple I believe

That is a pretty, pretty crankset. Sadly, it's a road crankset, and I can't afford to lose my granny gear; we have way too many hills. Thank you for your very kind offer, I do appreciate it.

This one has a 26t granny but yes for a MTB the Middle ring will and outer are probably too large

I might have to go with that 160 that my husband found. It's not as pretty as yours (or a gorgeous Velo-Orange, but it's $170 cheaper).

It looks like a 110/74 BCD triple to me. Middle can be as small as 33T or 34T.

Are you sure you need 165s specifically?
I put 165s on the UO-8 because my shorter rake fork causes toe-to-tire overlap, but I have 170s on everything else, and I don't think I notice the difference at all. (I stand 5'8" and wear pants with a 30" inseam, so 170 probably is about right for me.)

Guess that depends on the budget you have ... eBay is a good source
ETA I should add a new set of chainrings can cost more than a used crankset in some cases .

You might want to look closer at those pictures. I'm pretty sure I see 170 on the back of one crank arm. Seller might be using stock photos though.

Sugino XD has sizes from 150 to 175. Doubles and triples readily available in 110/74bcd. Silver
Origin 8 has a full range of sizes also. Lower cost and lower but decent quality.
Had not seen the Andel triple yet. They make good cranks.
At 5'4" the chances are very high you will get a lot out of short cranks.

If the crank is anodized then, yea, Easy-Off removes anodizing. But many of the black cranks are painted. Bottom line is, if you like the crankset, they could be made shiny aluminum with some work.
