Not racing.
Absolutely not. Ride the saddle you like on the bike you like. Brooks is appropriate on anything.

A Brooks saddle will ruin the Ironman. I will dispose of the Brooks saddle for you at no cost.

It works well for me on a bike with drop bars (upper body <60°) for positions >60° i prefer the regular b17.
