My 1991 Raleigh Castorama Maxisports

Good Afternoon

Some pics of my 1991 Raleigh Castorama Maxisports made of Reynolds753 tubing, in relatively good condition despite some paint chips, its equipment is full c record, except the original fork which was replaced due to a crash, a miche front derailleur and the wolber front frim replaced by a rigida dp18. I repainted some of the paint chips with white nail polish.Original saddle was a Turbomatic 2 which was dead and which I changed by an Italia Century manganese in white color

The bike was sold to me by an ex pro racer more than 20 years ago. Upgrades will be the following :
-Mavic CXP 30 with Campy Chorus 8speed hubs

-Campagnolo C-Record SL-01RE CG Shifting Lever / 8 Sp / 77g
-Campagnolo Record EXA Drive Cassette / 8 Sp / 14-26 / CS99-RE0833 / 331g
-Campagnolo C Record Front Derailleur / Braze on / A021 / 1994 / 104g
-Continental Grand Prix 4 seasons 700*23c
-2 slime tubes
-new brakes cables
-new campy record exadrive 8 speed chain
Then ride it
The value for the Castorama Maxisport Raleighs is very high, just check these ebay links

You mean Ebay asking prices are high.

What actually sold were two framesets that didn't sell for very much at all, considering they're Reynolds 753.

French writing on a Reynolds sticker on an English bike? Weird, but I’m sure someone will chime in saying it was common from March 17th 1990 to April 23rd 1991 or some such thing.

That’s even more interesting. Official acknowledgment your bike has been repainted.

True Ebay asking prices are high. The last time I have seen Reynolds 753 frames only for sell was a month ago and price weren't exactly on the cheap , I have seen a Land Shark and a Notar Service de Course both made in Reynolds 753 both sold above 1200$. This raleigh frame is special because it was made by Armel André at Maxisports who worked with Cyrille Guimard (former professional bike racer and former professional roadbike racing teams director) ,the brand maxisports was a well known to build made to measure bike frames in EL OS and Altec. Just an example of a pristine Maxisports Altec Campy Record 9 speed

It is its original color, it never went to respray nor even repainted unlike the very few I have seen in real life. It went certainly from the factory to be repainted. When I bought it more than 20 years ago, I decided to keep it as is .
