Hi,

So i have a canyon grail and would lile a extra wheelset.
Currently i use a dtswiss g1800 set with specialized pathfinder pro 40mm tires.

for road tours, i would like a new decent carbon set with the continental gp5000 in 33mm.

What wheelset do you guys recommend?
i doesnt have to be the lightest set, and it should be ok to put 40mm tires on it too.

Budget Is 1000€ / 1500€

Since you arent in the US, suggesting a US builder is pointless. Even if you were though, I would still also suggest Lightbicylce or BTLOS.
Both have multiple options for rim width and depth and you can also pick spokes and hubs.

I have friends with both- the one with Light brand wheels actually went thru the purchase process with me since he wasnt sure what he wanted/should purchase. They take pics thru the build and send it to the customer to show progress. Both have consistently high reviews and the product vs cost is really strong.
You can buy a great wheelset with double butted spokes and bitex hubs for $525-800. There are multiple 'levels' of rims, but from what I have read on reviews and forums, none are bad, they are just different weight based on the fibers used.
And then, if you want higher than a quality bitex hub, choose whatever they offer and buy that.
Rims are hooked still too.

The lower price(than your budget) does not make the wheels inherently less quality.

I'd recommend Zipp 303S. They're 1550g, tubeless/disc, reasonably wide (23mm internal, 27mm external), and aero 45mm depth. You can get them for right around 1000€.

I have a set that I use for both road and gravel/CX. They're fantastic and a really nice upgrade over OEM alloy wheels. For road riding I run 28mm GP5000 on them, for CX racing I run between 33-40mm knobbies - all tubeless.

Zipp includes a lifetime warranty that also covers crashes.

I debated buying wheels from Light Bicycle - they get good reviews on here and elsewhere and I'm sure they're fine, but for me the warranty from Zipp was compelling.

i bought the bontrager aeolus pro 3v with 32mm Bontrager R3 tyres.
and will use my G1800 with the specialised pathfinder pro 40mm as gravel tyre.
if its too hard, i still have my Trek roscoe 9

so i'm set for 2023
