rear hub for both 11 & 12 speed cassette

Notices
Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

rear hub for both 11 & 12 speed cassette

I have a 2017 gravel bike. It came with a 2x11 Shimano 105 drivetrain with a 12x142 rear through axle. I currently use a 11-36 eleven speed SRAM cassette.

I'd like to upgrade the wheelset this year. I also plan to upgrade to SRAM 2x12 eTap in two years. At that time I'll install a 10-36 twelve speed SRAM road cassette.

Are there hubs that will will accept an eleven speed cassette and also can be adapted to the twelve speed cassette? I don't mind changing the freehub body or an using an adapter.

There are freehub bodies that accept both 11- and 12-speed cassettes, like the DT Swiss, Sram XO XD or Double Time XDR units. You'd build/buy a wheel using the hub that corresponds with the freehub, and the appropriate cassette.
