9 speed RD needing medium cage
I have a Campagnolo Chorus 9V RD being used to shift 8V cassette. I want to change out the crank set for a triple. Bought a Racing T crank set and I think it requires a 115 spindle, of which I have two in the stash.
I also have a 9V cassette. What is missing is the medium cage to be able to use the small ring.
There are a tone of Veloce RD with medium and long cages on the bay. Are the cages interchangeable? I don't want to spend the $100+ for another RD.

Well I could. Branfrod indicates that the cages are interchangeable.

Also find out if a 7-8 speed cage will work.

Looking at the pictures, the 10 speed might work. This one won't solve your problems, but the pictures can help you decide if it will work or not.

Chorus and Record are interchangeable, like a lot of the parts. Other levels mount differently.
Gave up and found a Racing T RD with medium cage, which is what I need for the gearing I have.

I took off the medium cage off of a Racing T rear derailleur and used it to replace the short cage of my Record 9-speed titanium rear derailleur. I used the derailleur cage spring that came with the Record derailleur not the Racing T. My Record medium cage rear derailleur looks and shifts great. I'm using it on a Miche 13-29 9-speed rear cassette.

@El Heron - Great! Thanks for the info! My other RD is a Chorus 9V which I will simply replace as I think the Racing T is also a 9V. Doesn't matter as it is being used on a 8V block. Need a hub to use the 9V block I have.

Hey SJX426, I have a 1997 Campagnolo Record Titanium freehub body that is in my garage seeing zero use. It's in excellent condition, no cassette markings. Unfortunately I cannot locate the three springs and pawls that came with it but it's very likely that you can use the springs and pawls on your current Campagnolo 8V freehub body. The Record 9-speed freehub body is yours if you want it, just please compensate me for shipping costs. There is a thread on Bike Forums started on 10-06-2010 titled "Changing campy freehub body from 8 to 9-speed?" where member Drew Eckhardt outlines what spacers you would need to make the conversation. @El Heron - Found the post: "You might need to add a second FH-RE017 washer on the right side too (the 9-speed freeehub is wider, and although the parts diagram show 2 spacers on some of the 8 speed hubs there may only be 1 there, and with just 1 the chain may not clear the dropout on the small cog)."
For others that may read this, I accepted El Herons offer and it fit on the hub. I have not mounted it yet as I need a lock nut. Preliminary assessment says I need the washer listed in the quote above.
