Hi. Been reading bikeforums.net for a cuple of years now, but I had never opened a thread before lol.
English is not my first language.

Probably because they don't know what the numbers stand for. I've owned cars for decades but have been so uninterested in them compared to my bikes that, while I would guess that the numbers on my car tires have the same significance as the numbers on my bike tires, I don't know for sure.

To the OP: the only tires you can fit to rims that are designated 559 are tires designated 559. The other number---37---refers to the (approximate) inflated width of the tire.

Doesn't interchange with each other.
A quick basic understanding of it: 559 is 26" as 700c is to 29" . 584 = 27.5.

Absolutely you can. The tires will be bigger than the rim so they will not inflate but they will physically fit. 😬

Tire sizing is ridiculous, not you fault.

Here is almost everything you will ever need to know about bicycle tire and rim sizing, or at least put you on the path to perfect bicycle tire sizing knowledge :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_5775

To quote: ISO 5775 is an international standard for labeling the size of bicycle tires and rims. The system used was originally developed by the European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO). It is designed to make tire sizing consistent and clear. It replaces overlapping informal systems that ambiguously distinguished between sizes.

I was just being consistent since you mentioned 559 and 584, the next one would be 622.

So.............

559 = 26
584 = 27.5 = 650b
622 = 29 = 700c

Well if you are going to be pedantic about it, 622mm is also equal to 28” tires. Not that I disagree with using ETRTO sizing for all bicycle tires. If we could only make everyone forget the old system.

622mm is equal to 28" tires? what size tires are those? All widths can't possibly be 28". 700mm = 27.5" and that would be about a 35mm width tire. Although we can't use "27.5" because that is reserved for 584mm or "650b" wheels.

If you really want me to be pedantic, 622mm = 24.5".

Quoting from the Sheldon Brown tire size chart, for "28 x decimal":

"Some German tire companies use this non-standard designation for 622 mm ("700C")."

my intent was to lend an easy quick reference. I didn't want to convolute the topic with charts, power point slides, spreadsheets, TPS reports..

It’s more of a European thing, but, yes, 28” is used for tires on a 622mm rim. Using the 622mm diameter of a 700C rim, the tire needed to make the outside diameter of the tire get to 700mm is a tire with a 39mm width. The French system uses different rim diameters to get to the 700mm overall diameter of the tire in that system. The 700A was a 29mm tire on a 642mm rim. 700B was a 32mm tire on a 635mm rim. 700C was a 39mm tire on a 622mm rim. 700D was a 58mm tire on a 583mm rim.

The 27.5” designation is a very recent development. The 650B wheel has been around for a very long time but it wasn’t called the “27.5er” (a mouthful) until the last 10 to 15 years. Mountain bikers can’t seem to deal with metric.

Hard to argue that 28" isn't an "actual" size when at least one current and a number of former bicycle tire manufacturers have sold tires clearly labeled 28". Again:

Quoting from the Sheldon Brown tire size chart, for "28 x decimal":

Some German tire companies use this non-standard designation for 622 mm ("700C").
