Good question @bianchigirl . The drive side race is 1.683", which works out 42.75mm between the flats. And 1.195" or 30.35mm for the non-drive side nut. This size also fits Schwinn headset nuts.
Could it be that the drive side race is 1-19/32"? That would be 1.693" in digital inches. Perhaps. But how common would a 1-19/32" wrench be? And that is 10 thousandths over the flat to flat dimension. I would think a better fit would be required.
And for the non-drive side nut, the closest fractional size is 1-13/64" or 1.203" in digital inches. Or 30.56mm. This is 8 thousandths bigger than the size of the nut. So, perhaps. Usually when making nuts you start with hex stock. Then all you have to do is drill the proper size hole, thread it and part it off. There is no need to machine the outside hex surfaces. This seems to be an odd size for hex stock as well, but perhaps it was more available at some time. Or it was a Schwinn specific size.
Anyway, odd sizes. Neither metric or a standard inch size.
The Sturmey Archer axle nut wrench came in with a perfect fit from Send Cut Send, but the Ashtabula crank wrench was just undersize. That lasered surface is tuff and the file skated right across it. I had to use sandpaper to open it up for the proper fit.
I am already making modifications to the drawing for a revision B, just so that if I ever need to make another it is the right fit. I also made a couple of minor tweaks while I was at it.
So far, I'm glad that no one has replied that I could have gotten a Park tool instead of designing my own.
The bottle opener has been done so often, but now that you bring it up.... No, it doesn't work as a bottle opener except if I put the wrench under the cap an hit upward on the wrench.

KoolStop Dura 2 pads
Upgraded from Dura pads. Not sure if the old salmon ones had dried a bit, but the new salmon ones are much grippier and have better modulation somehow

Parts for the next build are currently incoming. One day ago, a 26" 6 speed Richey Vantage / Suntour XC 9000 wheelset (rear came with an Alpha 14t-28t FW), and today a complete set of fairly fresh Dia Compe 986 cantilevers.

This can be key and invaluable in many ways IMO.
I am always on the lookout for cool, odd, rare, eclectic, etc. parts, pieces and components, especially when cheap.
I often have a particular build and or bike in mind and often not.
Awhile back I had a couple of builds that while I was digging around looking for lost treasures and parts I wanted for these builds, I found several options along the way for both that also yielded ideas and parts for other builds as well.
Many of these very cool parts were very cheap when I bought them having done so mainly based on price and knowing they would be needed for yet unplanned builds later on.
This of course has also resulted in many parts that may not get used but as they were often cheap, they are not a huge problem and many will get used eventually.
Both of the planned builds were completed with almost zero delay or additional sourcing outside the pile.

You have to have vision, obsession, forethought, luck, etc, and $$$$$$ as well as being willing to part with it.
Can be very challenging, especially when it takes you out of your comfort zone as with much older than our "normal" realm.
Again, you have to be able to take a leap as you did here for it to pay off, if you don't, well it can be even more expensive and far more of a slog.
I didn't/don't have time for that so I am open to eclectic, sympathetic, compromise when necessary and have had very few complaints as well as thumbs up from some pretty serious stalwarts of this C+V thing.
I've stepped up plenty of times as you did here and have really never been sorry, just poorer but happier for not missing out.

got a Kreitler replacement belt for the rollers. these still roll smooth as silk and they were old when I bought them 30 + years ago.

Universal fit? No. I need a true XL helmet. They're scarce, with little variety, and expensive. I looked up Smith Optics. I got this one, from them directly, an XL, without a visor (don't like them), free shipping, for $77, reduced from $120. Yes, it's MIPS.
