Beverly bridge over Colombia River on Iron Horse Trail

Washington State Parks has refurbished the former Milwaukee Road bridge spanning the Columbia River at the town of Beverly.

The repurposed bridge connects the west side of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail with eastern Washington. The Palouse to Cascades Trail is located within a rail corridor that stretches more than 285 miles across Washington, from Cedar Falls to the Idaho border. State Parks currently manages approximately 250 miles of trail within this corridor.

Join representatives from local communities, trail enthusiasts, state parks and other elected officials at the grand opening ceremony of the Beverly Bridge at the Huntzinger Trail head in Beverly, at 1 p.m. on April 8. Further details provided below

I've ridden the John Wayne Pioneer / Iron Horse / Palouse to Cascades Trail from North Bend to earst of Snoqualmie, and parts of it as far east as Ellensburg. But not over the Columbia River.

It's my understanding that cyclists had to do a very uncomfortable ride on I90 to cross the river. Many chose to hitch hike instead. The was an unofficial shuttle, a Vantage local who doesn't want cyclists getting hit.

This new bridge will be the main route now. 🙂
