Favorite really nice water bottle cages??
Hi,
as I over thing a future build, another in series of question for my favorite forum
What is your favorite really nice water bottle cage?
I am thinking Stainless steel or titanium, but some thing like the Nitto R
points also for made in USA like King Cages
Low weight is probably a given for a nice cage, good retention and looks required. Will be on lugged steel with bright green paint and white trim
Of course I could go ultimate and get some bespoke by gugie, but I am kinda saving that option for a rear rack (foreshadowing of the nest question at some point)

The King stainless cage is really a well built item, and at a reasonable price (as you noted).
A quick shot of two mounted on my Raleigh Team...
You didn't mention too many requirements, so if you happen to be open to using a handlebar bottle cage, I recommend the venerable (and a bit pricey lately) T.A. bar cage, circa 1970's or so.

The nicest cage I have. I have a tough time bitting off $70 for one bottle cage.. Luckily I found this one used, for half off. King cages are a nice part for a lot less money. I've found cheap stainless cages at rei that look good($10 during one of their sales)

I use Klean Kanteens for bottles and the King Iris cages hold them very securely, no rattles, etc. and they look retro-nice. I like how the V-O Moderniste cages look too, but they're a little flimsier and more malleable than the Iris and tend to loosen and rattle with a SS bottle (pretty sure they'd be fine with a plastic bottle, tho).

VO retro cage with tab. Their Moderniste cage is too flimsy with a full bottle.

VO offers the retro cage with tab and without. I like the tab. And Tab. Tab is good. I don't mind that saccharin was linked to bladder cancer in rats. I don't happen to like rats. Rats can go straight to hell. Chinchillas are cool, though. I like otters a lot too, but they're not rodents.
