$500 - Complete bike located in southern California. I prefer not to part out my bike.

Serviced fairly recently, and has original paint and decals. The drive train is Shimano Deore with a Sugino triple crank.

Standover height and the effective TT length:
20.5" or 50.8cm from center crank to tube top entry. Exactly the same from center handle bar stem to center seat post stem. Distance from center crank to top step over bar at seat post tube = 9.5 inches. Distance from that point up to tube top = 10.5 inches Ground to center crank = 10 inches.

We took it to a local bike shop to inquire about the value and shipping. They pointed out that a cable braze on was broken so I am attaching a picture of it and will add it to the listing. The owner of the shop said it is only cosmetic and has no structural impact on the frame. Apparently the last shop that serviced it broke it and never said anything when I picked it up.

Received a PM asking if it was rust or a decal/sticker residue below the seat cluster. It is what is left of that decal. The only rust is a minimal amount on the screws connecting the toe clips to the pedals. There are no dents but small scratch/blemishes you would find on a bike of this vintage. It has always been housed indoors and was never ridden competitively.

Shipping is $45 for the box and anywhere from $75+ depending on distance through a bike shipping company via local shop. PM an address and I can get a firm quote.

Someone is going to get a reasonably rare bird and a first rate frame. I believe Faggin was notorious for doing all of their own work and so this would likely not have been their bread and butter.

Any buyer could email Cristina Faggin (Massimos wife) and she will sometimes get back with you.

He can usually narrow it down to a a two year range.

Im thinking the poster means that a high end step through like this is not typical for a name like Faggin, it’s outside of their wheelhouse, so quite special.

It’s really one of the coolest step throughs I’ve seen, hope somebody grabs it soon.

Thats exactly what I meant but didn’t say very well.

They did not farm out much work and were known for doing all (almost all) building and painting within “the family” (trusted apprentices, painters, prep men/women, etc...) At least, this is what I have learned though I don’t have the full story.

I don’t think they would have spent a lot of their time on step through (better term than “women’s” though I doubt many men in the 89s used step through) bikes unless a particular customer requested it.

I’d say your bike is pretty rare. And even more, it is really high end frame building (I don’t think Faggin did lower end, since it likely didn’t pay.)

I’d further guess it came to the US as a frame only, or someone brought it with them as a frame. Any stickers saying a bike shop or importer?

A buyer refreshing it (I am guessing 1982-1986 would be about the right time based on the paint) would have some fun if they wanted to go Italian...Campy triple, Nuovo record Rally, other fun possibilities.

The one decal is decayed and my impression is that the bike shop purchased the frame. Since I purchased this about 30 years ago and did not ask a lot of questions I don't know much about it. I just loved it and bought it.

Almost certainly Columbus. Faggin was funny though in experimenting.

i have heard they sometimes used Aelle on high end frames on certain tubes, with SL on the rest.

i am going to guess this might be one of those.

Seatpost size would help identify it, but the value is there nonetheless. Hope it finds a good home.

Ventura. I will have to dig up the receipt but of the last few servicings it almost certainly did. No expense was spared when it was serviced and I doubt anyone would have missed the opportunity to offer that. Will dig into the receipts and let you know.

No rush but awesome. I’m very tentatively interested in purchasing this for a friend and am in Los Angeles fairly regularly. I expect it to sell before I’m there again but will keep an eye on it nonetheless.

I can do the servicing myself but it’s always a plus if it’s already been done for you haha.

it probably is engraved on the seatpost, though sometimes hard to see. You had the saddle and seatpost out in one of the images. It would be below the minimum insertion line usually.

it will be in mm 26.8, 27.2 or other even increments. I would guess it is 26.8. If 27.2, it is high grade tubing..

I'm not in a rush to sell it. It took a long time to actually decide to give it up and I'd really prefer to see it go to someone who will appreciate it.

Probably Columbus Aelle tubing then. Good sturdy stuff for this particular frame. Not the lightest but sturdy. Typical choice for Faggin.
