A swing and a miss on a Competition GS.

I JUST missed this diamond in the rough. Probably a good thing though, the other half is starting to view dimly on the expanding velo treasure trove. Somebody somewhere is a happy camper tonight.

Don't be too hard on yourself - that fork looks bent to me.

Stem and seatpost look stuck, too. Be thankful you missed out.
(hope this helps)

I've been *this close* many times before. Sometimes it's for the best. The one missed freebie that stings most is not even bike related -- it was an Eames chair with matching ottoman in very good condition that had been posted for three minutes, and I was second in line.

It's been a while since I've seen a wind trainer like that!
I wonder how many hours someone was riding the Comp on that trainer and sweating all over the top tube?
Hopefully the bike will be getting some love with the new owner.

Five bucks says it'll show back up on Marketplace for $300 with the front wheel installed and marginally better pictures.

Over priced dude! I got my G.S. For 70 bucks because it was missing the front wheel like that one.

While I generally prefer the more relaxed frame angles of the pre-GS Raleigh Competition, my very first 650B conversion was a Comp GS with 38mm Panaracer Col de la vie tires and fenders. It was both zippy and stable (and, yes, I really needed by bars up high then for my aching neck):

I have a '73 Mk II frameset I'm building. The GS was too small for me so I most likely would have moved the components to the Mk II, used the components from it on my '66 Carlton and sold the GS bones. Ya snooze, ya lose.
