Benotto? I'm not sure

Hello all,

Simply wondering if anyone can shed some light on this bike for me. There are a few Benotto decals on it, but I'm not convinced that's what it actually is. Any information that can be provided is most welcome.

Basically all I know now is that the frame is steel and there are 3 Benotto decals on it -- there's no other markings (at least that I know of) other than "2135" stamped on the underside of the BB.

Many thanks in advance!

Z

suggest to check fork ends to see what name marked with

possible they may read Tange rather than Campag

drive side seat stay appears bowed - could be just a photographic effect...

If a parts bin build. So many parts not original. Fork is suspect, does it have Campy drop outs? If not, it is a replacement. Forks don't get lost, they get damaged. So if the fork is a replacement, then I would check the main frame. Read up on a string test.

Wheels, stem, brake levers, rear derailleur, shift levers, all likely not original. No original has little to no effect on ride ability!

The lug cutouts resemble some Mercian models.

I would agree that it is Mexican model from the late 70's. As said most of the parts are none original but fine ride wise. Also the frame has been drilled likely by hand for the bottle cage, this and the suspect fork and mixed components would lead me to say pass on this one. As for value if the frame and fork check out as good and everything works nice I would say $150 it is a real Bennotto just not high end and it has some potential issues.
