Traces of letters remain: an E and A are fairly certain, followed by an R and possibly a final S. Is it fair to point out that ALL THOSE LETTERS ARE CONTAINED IN THE NAME 'DE ROSA'???

Looks like an entry level Chiorda to me. Sheldon Brown did not think much of their entry level offerings. Nor did/do I.

Well worth the $10.00 asking price. Seller forgot the decimal point in the listing.

I've heard that these are one of the very few models out there that can actually hit top speed.

Food for thought.

You guys do know this one pops up every April 1, for some unknown reason.

Love the post script

ps: confidential to 'Joey' re your offer of 'a g of blonde kief.' My sources suggest that you are talking about some kind of narcotic. I could not possibly entertain such an offer. However...what kind of quantity could you get? (Asking for a friend.)

It must be the day that the seller decides to begin spring cleaning every year. The date bears no other significance I'm aware of. Nope, nothing else comes to mind.

The "BMA" sticker on the seat tube identifies it as an American-built, deparment-store level gaspipe frame.

That is interesting. I never knew that before. That said, the sticker does not indicate that the bike was built in the USA, only that it was tested in the USA. With that in mind, does a bike have to be built in the USA to get the sticker. Also, the OP suggests the bike to be Italian. Is it possible that it was built in Italy, imported into the USA and then subjected to USA standards through the BMA/6 standard?

We, in Canada, have a similar situation with Miele bikes. Some were, indeed, Italian masterpieces. But most were made in Italy and assembled in Canada to avoid high tariff fees.

Anyway, not trying to be argumentative. Just trying to learn something new. Thanks.

Some of you may be taking this just a tad bit more seriously than necessary.
Anyway, it's gone. For now.
But as we say in Chicago, 'just wait'll next year!'

I think this is a highly collectable Crazy TV Lenny bike from American TV and Appliance circa 1980s that some how made it all the way from Madison to Chicago(possible if the rider had the 40 years)

Thx for the link AI 🙂

The BMA/6 was an April Fool's gag all its own.

Dumped in Lake Monona during a drunken tribute to Otis Redding, Dec. 1985. Fished out of the Rock River, downtown Rockford, Earth Day 1998. Last seen in Tollview, IL; final conveyance to Chicago remains shrouded in mystery.

Poster missed one mark, however. The photos are too good. OfferUp-quality would have been the finishing touch. As said, there's always next year.

(Edit - waitaminit; TV Lenny gave away those bikes because they DIDN'T pass BMA/6, or so I've heard. Mandela effect? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?)

@Chicago Al: If you link the original, "vintage" thread a few people's eyes will be opened

Actually, link it anyway - I wanna see it (and the comments!) again for good laugh. That thread, and the "P u s s y Cruiser" thread, have always been fun classics!

You are indeed correct, Lenny gave away a bike with purchase of a TV. But did you know after the appliance business, Lenny started selling e-bikes? He then gave away a TV with the purchase of an e-bike. Turnaround is fair play.

But are the free TVs free because they don't pass safety standards?

(Or maybe the free TV is a 15" Sanyo from 1985....)

BMA was a consortium of United States bicycle manufacturers, Huffy and Murray.
