Vintage Bike in the TdF?

Not in the race obviously, but in the TV coverage. Did anyone else see this in the feature they ran about Tadej Pogačar on USA?

No shots of the whole bike, but this flashed across the screen while they were showing him riding with a few other people. That bike has to be twice as old as he is.

Caught it, went back to see if there was more, but no. The Slovenian mountains are certainly spectacular!

They really were. I wasn't familiar with Slovenia at all, but the parts they showed were gorgeous. I had a similar revelation a few years ago watching the Tour of Croatia for the first time, Slovenia's neighbor. I need to travel more.

Betcha they have him on a 70s Super, since his TDF rig is a Colnago.

Looks like similar DNA to me:

I really hope the peloton is done with doping, as this has been a fantastic tour so far. And still two more days of who-knows-what to go!

i may have heard that yesterday Pogacar, van Aert and Vingegaard all three crushed the previous fastest time to the Aubisque (?) which stemmed from 1997, set by Ullrich, Virenque and Pantani. Man those aero bikes sure are fast.

It's all about marginal gains these days.

In that same segment it looked like a vintage bike high up on the wall in the lodge/house? too.

Tadaj can probably ride whatever he wants at this point, after winning two Tours there maybe no bike he cannot get his hands on.

Maybe he's one of us now.

I missed that but in the first week, in one of Steve Porino’s roadside reports (I’m going to apply for his job, looks like a lot of fun) he stopped at a group of fans from Belgium with a replica Molteni team car with 3 or 4 EM bikes on the roof and cafe with bar and beer tap set up next door.

I also saw that segment and was impressed that Tadej started riding steel. He loves training on the mountains in Slovenia and they are very impressive. He is one of us.
Very cool since he was born in 1998 and could have started on CF.

My wife has been a big fan of Pogacar this year and if he really does choose to ride C&V occasionally for a long and hard ride, I am too. (As long as he doesn’t install one of those pie plate 32 tooth cog sets like his tour bike.)

Yes I was happy to see that segment, too. When they showed some of the other riders with Tadej, I paused it and made out a Colnago headbage. Considering the team sponsorship, I would be surprised if they weren’t all on Colnagos.

I saw that segment, recognized the top of the Colnago head badge in one shot.

I wonder if they keep the roads clear to he can train? My hometown would, were I that good.

Considering it's Tadej, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd let him ride Eddy's hour record bike if he want to.

Being a national hero/treasure, they probably clear and close the roads for him.

I have grown my hair for... coming up on 20 years, it's halfway down my back, but it still doesn't escape the vents (shrug).

With a 32 tooth rear, he could probably ride up the face of El Capitan. Vingegaard, too.

Yeah, that's an exaggeration, but not much of one.

a Kazakh racer was recently caught with contraband PED's ( not specified ) by Spanish Customs.... his team fired him. Not in the tour.
