Hiker/biker fees for kids
Currently in Yellowstone with our 11y/o daughter. Park entrance is free for under 16, but no mention about biker campsites. She got in free once, but we were told that the rate applies to everyone.
Anyone here knows what the policy is (ideally with a link to some official source)
---
No connectivity in the park. Most campgrounds are closed (probably a mix of the consequences of this spring flooding and generalized staffing problems). Weather is perfect, roads are no problem. Great destination

At this site: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/grantcg.htm
It says "Hiker/bicyclist Nightly Fee
This is the per-person cost for a hiker/bicyclist campsite for one night.
$9.40"
No mention of any breaks for kids.

She would have been able to get into the park for free with the Every Kid Outdoors program for 4th graders: https://www.nationalparks.org/our-wo...y-kid-outdoors
That covers the park entrance fee, but not campsite or other fees.

Kids always got into the drive-in movies for free, when I was a kid. After 18, you had to sneak in, in the trunk, like everyone else. 😁

Reminds me of the last time I was up in Yaak, MT. Pete Creek Campground was $7/night. I was staying two nights but didn’t have any $1 bills. Luckily, I wanted firewood, which was $6 for an armload, and I had a $20 bill. (Hosts are not allowed to make change.)

Can't help with your question but curious: Were you able to ride up and get a hiker/biker campsite on the fly, or did you have to reserve? The Yellowstone site mentions there are a few hiker/biker sites, but not clear if that's a no-cyclist-turned-away policy like many state campgrounds on the coast.
