Seriously question whether or not it's the real deal, but it seems to be ok quality. nice piece of a kit. under 12 bucks shipped.

That's not bad for regular brake cable housing. I'd go compressionless, though, if I was replacing brake cable.

I like a little bit of compression, I was actually concerned that it might be a bit stiff.

It does not include inner shift cables.

I have used Modified bicycles (also EBay) and they are excellent.

I use these Jagwire kits on all my bikes. They all work fine EXCEPT for the 'braided' housings. These, for some reasons, takes a lot of shift cable adjustments over a period of weeks before the adjustment finally settles down. Also- either the brake of shift housing for these braided housings, does not use the standard size ferrule and requires a step ferrule.
So just stick with the plain color ones and you'll be fine.
Oh yeah- upgrade the shift cable to Jagwire slick galvanized.

I think I've bought these in the past, they seem OK to me. I wondered if they were just sort of bulked packaged for bike shops

I’ve used them as well, mostly for the brake housing as I only have one bike with STI’s and a foot or so of shift housing handles the RD loop. The brake housing is one step down from the latest Jagwire offering, not quite as flexible, but overall a very acceptable product. I give the included cables away to the local co-op and use genuine Shimano drawn stainless cables instead.

I tried one of these, did not care for the housing, and have never liked dual compatible ended cables.

Any seller that blurs the info on the packaging in their ad is hiding something from someone…..

Interesting, I use the braided housings all the time and haven't had any of those issues. I've used them on somewhere around a dozen bikes including a tandem and almost all with index shifting. I totally believe you but I wonder why the difference in our experiences? When buying braided I only use the PRO kits though as they're going on my "better" bikes.

Which one is the 'PRO' kit? Anyways, I need to add that the 'braided' housings I received all came without the Jagwire labels. Whereas the regular solid color ones all have the jagwire labels printed on the housing. So who knows- maybe the braided housing I got were off-brand.

You see this from many sellers on ebay/aliexpress - pretty much all from China. Then when they request feedback from buyers, they tell them to also not show any branding/logos as well!

The PRO kits are specifically for road or MTB, not a universal fit for both. They only have the end for one type of brake lever or shifter. They're quite a bit more expensive as well but have stainless inner wires and although it appears the same the housing seems to cut more cleanly to me.

Here's an example of a Barke cable PRO kit. All my PRO braided cables have had JAGWIRE printed clearly on the housing.

Tag in, just to follow the posts. I don't have any experience with these, but now that my local bicycle shop has closed, I'm probably going to buy more consumable items on line...
