still adjusting to all this rain in Socal, think I'd be a pro by now after 4 months of wet weekends. Finally got a working rear fender, so kit rear has been clean and mostly dry! Got to try some columbia hiking waterproof pants, they work great other than looking like MC Hammer

We lucked out with the Nor'easter here on the coast. We had about 3 inches of rain and a half-inch of snow. But places in central Mass (maybe 50 miles west of here) got 30 inches of snow.

Did my first ride with dedicated cycling shoes today. Had always used sneakers/running shoes with fairly soft soles that get ripped up by the pins. Bought a pair if these Five Ten Freerider shoes on Amazon (Five Ten Freeriders ). Seem to be good shoes, we'll see how durable. I wouldn't have paid $80 though, I managed to get them for about $50.

As the thread title suggests, your mileage may vary. A mile is longer than a km, so on average there is more fun to be had per mile than per km. Yet, we don't discriminate here in the Bik Forumz. Just substitute the word fun for "Miles/km" in the thread title and you are good to go!

To highlight our inclusiveness, maybe next month the thread title should be "April 2023 100+ Funz Thread."

this week 81kms, 152 mtd, 630 ytd
-1 lb this week, -3 mtd, -13.4 ytd

Not a bad week for me. Had my sutures out, sleeping and feeling better. Weather's nice.

Most positive thing is I'm under 200 lbs this week. It's slow going but I hope to keep it up.

Saturday's Solvang Double Century helped me get a monthly miles boost. Lucky it was dry and mild winds. Long solo day though

Goal for the month met. Now let’s see if I can get another 100 or so before the end of the month. Took my longest single ride since the eye surgeries this morning. It's starting to feel fairly normal now other than the lost vision. Next eye surgery installment next Tuesday.

Glad you've been able to get back on the road. Good luck with your next surgery. What is the prognosis, will you regain normal vision?

No milage goal set but started the month with 700 miles for the year on the odometer and yesterday was at 1130 miles. Two flats so far in March.

Thanks for the good wishes. I had a retina tear that got a laser repair. The following week I had a fairly minor detachment in another part of the retina, so that was the second surgery. Since I was leaving for England the following week they put in silicon oil instead of the more common gas bubble since you can’t fly with that. The surgery next week is to remove the silicon oil. Is ion is apparently not good with the air bubble but gets better daily as the air bubble slowly dissipates. After a week or so the vision should get back to better than what I have right now. But my understanding is that it won’t get back to before the detachment.

And then a cataract forms from the surgery. The surgeon is expecting I’ll need cataract surgery before the end of the year. Hopefully when it’s all said and done my vision will be fairly normal, though probably not as keen as before.
