Klein Quantum Race 55 Gator Fade. ~’00 Frame-set only
I’ve never seen another like it. Original paint with no dents, bubbles or touch-ups. Gary Klein signature. A few minor stone chips on seat and chain stays—see pictures. Extremely light frame that makes for a feather-weight build. Condition is unchanged from its ‘15 min of fame’ on the Pro’s Closet website under “what we ride.” Frame-set only but will include the matching head-set and seat clamp. Bb is standard threading (not pressed like the older Quantums.) $900 including shipping (lower 48)

Dont buy Waterloo built Kleins
Dont buy a Klein that was made after Trek bought them. Theyre Ok but usually overvalued.

There was a period of time after Trek bought them while they were still made in Chehalis, Washington by the Klein crew. The frames should be marked accordingly. Anything up to early 2002 should've been made in Chehalis if I recall correctly.

It is indeed. I changed my reply, since I kind of hijacked your thread a bit. (Sorry about that) As far as proprietary issues go (press fit BB/headset oddities), those mostly seem to effect earlier (early/mid 90s) Klein models. The Klein Quantum Pro, however, had proprietary weirdness in it's headset straight through to 2001. In the case of the Klein Quantum Pro, it had a special Klein proprietary headset (the "Klein Airhead Headset"). The upper bearing was integrated directly into the head tube, the lower bearing was glued/fitted directly onto the fork steerer and mated up with a cup that was glued inside of the head tube. I recall that one or both of these bearings were oversized. (Info taken directly from Bikeforums)
Your frame is free of all that madness. If I was in the market I'd be driving down to come get it, hello from 55741. Good luck with sale

You know your stuff!
I’ll add (not to your comments but to others) that while it’s true that quality and variety of paint dropped after the move to Waterloo, I’ve never seen evidence of frame build quality dropping off, and I’d guess the paint was more about a new inexperienced Waterloo group than it was neglect or lack of passion for the brand. In some ways Trek was good for Klein in that they pushed for the Quantum Race to finally move to a standard 1 1/8” steerer (from the old standard 1”)— makes the later Race frames much easier to fit the ’newer’ stems and oversized handlebars. The Quantum Pro even moved to a 1 1/8 steerer (vs proprietary 1 1/16) but did keep their proprietary bottom bearing so they could keep their tapered steerer (one of the first, I think?) Still, the whole range of Kleins out of Chehalis remain great retro options. No disc, no 28c tires, but still wonderful to sprint and climb hills with.
