Looking to buy first Hybrid

I have been searching the web to buy my first Hybrid bike and I have drawn a blank, there are so many brands to choose from and
I don't know what is the best entry level bike out there, any suggestion would be appreciated, I am looking to stay under $600.

Hi, welcome to Bike Forums! It would help if you told us a little about yourself and how you intend to ride. For instance, is this just a weekend ride or are you thinking about commuting to work? Lots of hills? All pavement or also some trails?

Do you have any bike shops nearby that you can visit and maybe test ride a bike before you buy? There are some good points in this thread to get you started: https://www.bikeforums.net/general-c...ice-range.html

I am looking for a hybrid to take back and forth to work - about 6 miles total.
Thinking about the the Diamondback Metric 2, The REI Coop 1.1, Schwinn Super sport or the Fixation Urbex. Any thoughts?

Schwinn SS is a good bike, but with problems: the fork weight more than 1,3Kg, I suggest you buy a Mosso M5 or other 435~450mm (75~71mm bb drop) alloy fork to improve the bike because, the m5, for exemple, weights less than 0,8Kg. If yu want more dettails about the potential of this bike, I feed a topic about your Brasilian perfect twin with continuous improves... "Aluminium Hybrid Bike From Brazil" Is the name of the topic.

Get a one year return policy with REI if you don't like the CO OP.

Jamis Coda S3 is a full chromoly frame with decent Shimano components. Great value.

First suggestion: https://www.marinbikes.com/bikes/2023-presidio-1

More relaxed: https://www.marinbikes.com/bikes/2023-kentfield-1#buy

The Cannondale Quick6 is showing a closeout sale: https://www.cannondale.com/en-us/bik.../quick/quick-6
Components are not the best but they are sold bikes.

And in the US there is another $100 for shipping and tax. Great option for sure.

Bought two as you know. There the best bikes we have ever owned and in my 73 years on the planet I've owned a few. Are you looking at the Roadlite series?

Yes the 6 with the 105 groupset. The original poster has some solid options, especially if the $ can be upped a bit.

Great choice, But for only $200 you can get the 7... It's almost 2lbs less has much better bits and pieces like the wheeset, bottom bracket, one piece stem/handlebar, without even considering the upgrade from the 105. I have had both and while the 105 is great the Ultegra is pure art. All that for only $200. Think about it but act soon both are $200 off right now. Enjoy and if/when you get it don't forget to post it here:https://www.bikeforums.net/general-c...on-please.html

This is a great value. I have two Jamis Codas. They have wonderful ride, smooth and agile.
