34 miles this afternoon, the front finally passed on through this morning after all the storm winds and heavy rainfall yesterday and early morning today. The creeks and streams are all running high and the water is fast for the sandy area's stream beds we have. Gusty NW winds, ued the drops more than usual but it felt like a great ride overall.

A late start for a very nice and windy 50 mile ride this morning. Not a very fast ride since the MUP was extremely overrun with families and kids on bikes but I did manage to get in a very nice sprint once the wind died down some.

Yes, first time this year and about time! Only 20 miles though, and kind of windy where I rode.

Don't you just love the symmetry of an out and back ride. I've passed by this hill countless times but have never ridden it. Today seemed as good as any to try something new. Only 18 miles, but it was nice to be out on the bike riding in the sunshine.

Always an out and back for me, in our area its the safest way to route my rides with some of the high traffic roads and the rural mind set of "unlimited speed" out here. The out and back suits me as it does you H2Oxtc, I like the way I can attack the hill that was a descent when I was outbound.

Today I rode just a 15 mile O&B, spinning and letting the kinks work out from yesterday's long (for me, don't laugh) ride. Felt good but the north wind was really cool for almost April.

Got some hill country training yesterday - on flat land! Trip out about 12 miles of head winds 15 gusting to 20. Throw in really bad chip seal and I got depressed more than once. Trip back made a new man outa me, you just gotta love a tailwind on a beautiful day.

35 miles for today. Maybe with this being the last day of March, these winds will stop for a while. Here's hoping they do.

Rode 25 miles today, beautiful weather, temps in the low 70's and blue skies overhead. Spring may have finally gotten the word about the dates for its beginning.

Today: My second commute to and from work of 2014. 21 miles. Mid-thirties this morning but up into the 60's riding home.
Yesterday: 21 miles on the Screamer with my favorite stoker. Making progress on recovering some basic level of fitness - same ride a week ago had some calf cramping but yesterday nada.

I'll ride a hill of any grade if it meant no wind. In my mind there's something cruel about riding into the wind.

Agreed. I think part of it is that they feel different. But also with a hill, you can see what is coming. There's nothing worse than riding into a strong gusting wind, where the going hard and then without warning it suddenly becomes much harder.

I rode outside for the 3rd day in a row - not much, just 15 miles on trails around a lake - but I could definitely get used to this spring-like weather. Unfortunately, it looks like a cold front is coming in with "wintery mix" precip, so I may be back to the trainer until the weekend <sigh>

really crappy riding weather this weekend so worked Saturday and took off Monday afternoon. Oh my. Temps in the low 70s, sunny skies and little wind. Started riding at 2 pm and rode 77 miles with 4500 ft of climbing. I was averaging 19 mph until I hit the hills....What a great day to ride.

Another 25 mile day, still beautiful early spring weather out, low 80's this afternoon and blue bowl skies.

I got out for a ride after work today, 13.4 miles in just about one hour on the nose. It would have been faster but I spent a lot of time weaving my way around stopped rush hour cars who insisted on hugging the far right side of the road.

I had the Peugeot in the car, so on the way home I stopped by Bedford's Depot Park, rode out to Concord, up Monument Rd into the edge of Carlisle, back to Bedford on 255. It was a glorious ride. And we have a fine, fine, fine crop of pot holes this year! Fortunately I didn't bust a rim like when I rode the Peugeot a few weeks ago. The wheel I strung up a few days ago held up nicely.

did you ride today

I did 27 miles on my FG. Not a big deal as I live in Florida. It does seem that the wind is always blowing into my face, or both sides of my head - dosen't seem to ever blow into my back. Go figure!

Welcome to the 50+ Forum Ret2013, where are you in Florida? We're in the NW corner, Escambia County, on the western birder with Alabama.

37 miles today on our first Tuesday/Thursday group ride of the year. We had 7 riders which was a really good for the first night. My legs felt surprisingly decent given I'd ridden 80 miles with some climbing yesterday. Encouraging for the upcoming back to back 80+ miles days on the tours in a couple months. The recovery drink I use really seems to help me out. Gotta love these 80 degree days with little wind.

I finished building my CAAD7 yesterday. Then I rode it to rehearsal. Parked it outside a restaurant for a bit. Someone stole it. So I rode it exactly once. Darn!

Here it is just before I took it out.

After the theft, I reported it to the police. I don't really expect to get it back, but I'll spread the word.
