Battaglin Model

I have a Battalgin - I pretty sure it's a late 80's model. I purchased it used in the early 90's. The color is a white base with blue and red. On the bottom of the bottom bracket are three numbers - one looks like a serial number (?) 1303, one the frame size, 58cm, and the other is C-69-1.

Is the C-69-1 a model number or something else?

Hello marc. can you post some pics and tell us more about the components it came with (if any)? take a look at some of the other threads and it will give you an idea of what pics to post.

now that I have thunk on this... weren't they imported by 10speed drive in that era? I seem to recall building some team Geurciottis that were actually battaglins.

I am not sure if they actually came in models. I think like most 10spd dr bikes it was a "Pick a Bike". you chose a frame CroMor, SL, SLX then a color tons of choices, then a kit with some options for tires and seats and things.

I know we sold a Geurciotti with a CroMor frame a god awful neon yellow paint and RX100 kit.

Hmmmmmm, that is very interesting Bianchigirl, I have seen some bikes up here in Toronto that have the Battaglin pantographs in the lugs but have been decal'd as a Gardin. Maybe Gardin got a bunch of tubes and lugs cheap from Battaglin and assembled them here? Or maybe Gardin could have purchased the entire frame and just painted and decal'd them however they wanted.

Regardless, here is my Battaglin.

The colour scheme is from Steve Roche's triple-winning Battaglin and I guess the company figured it would be smart to copy it for all of their models that year.

Roche had an incredible year in 1987:

Giro d'Italia (1987) - Stephen Roche
Tour de France (1987) - Stephen Roche
World Championships - Road (1987) - Stephen Roche

Yep, Jet that's it.

But does anyone know if the C-69-1 on the bottom bracket means anything like a model?

Just wondering,

Some of those TSD painted bikes have the TSD logo stamped into the rear brake bridge block - a stylized guy on a bike.
